Gee Skippy you really HAVE undergone an epiphany, a few weeks ago you were ready to commit Hari Kari.

Don't get too comfortable friend, I predict the pendulum will swing against Rudd before the election, his record is appalling, but just right now he is getting the 'halo effect'.

That’s right, Red. And this, coming from someone who announced the New Guinea solution as "WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH".

3 times.

Since then, you’ve come around. You’ll be coming around to a new Rudd government too. You won’t be happy about it, but you’ll come to what therapists call, a place of acceptance. It won’t be easy, I know.

God knows why. Rudd’s the new John Howard - only (for some strange reason) far more pupular. I have no idea why you’re not sucking Rudd dick.

YOU are.

The media is missing the point, as it has so many times. They missed Rudd's demise completely, so they orchestrated Gillard's. Now they are talking up Rudd to cover arse.
Look at their response to his latest announcement on PNG. They are all sucking it down as if it was something realistic. It isn't. It's a Rudd idea. It's bollocks.

Rudd is all announcement and no policy and no action. He will fold on the PNG solution. The man is an utter joke.  He will be challenged in the courts and will abandon his tuff line - if he gets re-elected.
It will be back to 2007-10 all over again - frantic inaction and lurching.

The FBT fiasco, eh Longy?

Aside from the fact that nine out of ten voters will never even know or care what that is, it’s a fiasco?

Sure, when Rudd wins the election to popular exhaltation - after the palm leaves are laid down before his entry nto Jerusalem - after he achieves the undoable, the unthinkable - yes, you’ll be proved right.

Until then, watch this soufle rise, and enjoy the fireworks.

You’re right. They won’t last.

The FBT fiasco simply proves that the old Rudd is still around. Policy on the run, no consultation and massive disaster are still his major attributes.  All we need now is for him to say he is an 'economic conservative' and the circle is complete.

IM tipping that as Rudd waits longer and longer and he has more massive failures likE the FBT fiasco that his polls will start to drop. his polls are popularity-based only, not based on substance.  A few fiascos and he will start to drop like a stone.  Even the PNG plan will eventually backfire once people realise it is a policy based on his re-election, not on stopping the boats and may not even last past the next election.

are you under some sort of impression that Rudd will wait another 6 months? Rudd will call the election next week, 2 weeks tops.

possibly but also possibly not.  His ego overshadows all other considerations.

you keep believing that all you want ... take Kevin for a fool and he'll make you pay. He's already proven to be smarter than Abbott

you confuse popularity with 'smarter'.  Hitler was incredibly popular when elected too. He is a classic example of why popularity and leadership are two entirely different things.

9 out go 10 voters don't know what FBT is???

A bit like assuming voters follow what a newspaper tells them.

Both comments assume the Australian people are stupid.

Shame on you.

Hi Longy,
looking forward to another 3 years on Ozpolitic on
the losing side for the Libbos?

says the person who has adopted both sides of the political divide.  And since the Libs are still in front, it is perhaps a bit early to declare Rudd the victor in a contest thathas not been announced and where he is still behind.

A delusional liar to boot. The Libs have not been in front of any poll for weeks, why do you lie so much? Who cares, loser. I look forward to three more years of your tanties, it suits you being a loser.

They  have been ahead of EVERY POLL for 3 years except for the vey last one.  crap memory you have there roo-girl.

They have been behind or equal in just about every poll since Rudd came back. Abbotts ass is Rudds. I am not surprised  you're too slow to catch on, most of the conga line have moved on and are now calling for phoney Tony's head. You  cods and maqqa were always going to be last to work it out, no prizes for guessing you three were class dunces.

they've not been behind in ANY poll other than the rather discredited single one that has been wrong more often than not. Galaxy and Newspoll both had them at 51/49 to Libs and lately 50/50

LYing old fool, I can't wait to see you weep.

How can it possibly fail, Miketrees? Without the offer of settlement in Australia, who’s going to get on a boat?

Do you see any refugees paying ten grand and waiting months for a boat trip from Indonesia to New Guinea?

I’d be surprised if any more boats leave Indonesia from here on in. The next few days will be very interesting.

They'll start threatening to cut their throats if they are taken to PNG

Of course Lefties have always been about believing in the throat cutting threats

Seriously - you wanted the boats stopped. they are stopped.

I think we should wait a little longer before declaring that the boats have stopped.  After all, there are still some at sea.

Haha. Are any more leaving indonesia though?

Rudd's asylum-seeker 'PNG solution'...another fraud and lie.

Women and children will not be sent to PNG...and families will not be split up.

Stand by for the people smuggling boats to be full of women, children and families from now on.

PNG boss has said that asylum-seekers who fail the refugee test will not be settled in PNG at all.

Rudd tells porkies.

Manus Island detention centre [basically a large tent]holds 350 people...there are 215 held there already.

125 Iranians, angry at Rudd's announcement, have destroyed the Nauru detention centre...8 explosions heard from inside.
Damage bill = $60million.

Don't ya just looove asylum-seekers.

Stand by for the civil war in PNG... Christian Melanesians V Muslim 'refugees'.

Can you see the spears being sharpened?

Karnal, I haven't changed position from my initial post. I am deeply concerned that Rudd has taken us to the economic slaughterhouse, once again.

I fear greatly that he has committed this Country to many billions of dollars to keep the scheme going.

On the contrary, Tony Abbott has said he will stop the boats,; i.e. he will turn them around.

There is a huge difference financially for Australia in the two approaches.

I have conceded that Rudd was clever in stopping the silent invasion, however, my great concern is that it will cost this Country a fortune it can ill afford to maintain it.

The one thing that Rudd is great at is spending money this Country doesn't have, hence the billions we owe China.

PS  I welcome your comments Karnal but I don't welcome the disgusting comments you made in a personal attack on me.

Keep your fists above the waist would you, this site can do without the filth you came out with.

Over the top much, Mr Baron?  All pure speculation on your part and ignores the practical reality of this solution which is.......there will be no economic refugee people on Achmed's boats because his customers will not pay big money to risk their lives so that they can live in that equatorial tropical paradise which is PNG.  I'll bet they are not rushing to increase the capacity of Manus Paradise because they know Achmed is out of business.  That is the point of this solution......put Achmed out of business, and you are yet to explain to me Mr Baron, why it will not work.

Rather than all that hyperbole you type with such superficial drama, perhaps you can turn your attention to that simple question.

Huh?

Agree, Abbott's plan of turning the boats around is a cheaper alternative, but many say he can't do it and he  has to convince us that he can can.

Yes Aussie, I have already expressed a couple of times whether the numbers seeking 'ASYLUM' will plummet.

This is the unknown factor but I believe the  numbers will drop through the floor as the Country Shoppers turn their eyes elsewhere.

If in fact that does happen then it will turn out a master stroke of strategy.
