Yes. How odd. I saw Abbott give a short press conference.

We have Rudd telling the people smugglers not to bring the asylum seekers to Australia because they will never get to live here.

Then we have Abbott calling a press conference to tell the people smugglers that's not quite true, keep bringing them in, they can stay here after all.

He's deliberately trying to sabotage Rudd's new deal by blatantly encouraging people smugglers. Who cares so much about the poor souls who drown at sea? not Tony.

There will be few boats arrive once they know they're going to be sent to PNG and combined with the reward for the smugglers - it will slow the trade right down.

It's a strong deterrant - like the Pacific Solution. The right whingers have been braying for years for Abbott to revamp Howard's old policies. They should be happy even if Rudd did come up with the idea first.

This isn’t the Pacific Solution at all. It’s residency in another country.

The Pacific Solution was a network of offshore prisons. This is resettlement.

Not only is it a humanitarian solution, it’s a disincentive - who wants to live in New Guinea?

This week, we’ll see.

Looks like they may get on a boat earlier if the afghans decide to go back home… we’d have to wait and see…

At the end of the day when they start finding out Australia will pay for their welfare etc for the rest of their lives it’ll be back up to 50,000 illegal economic bludgers Per annum living off the Australian people ..

Or

Turning Indonesian ships, that are Indonesian Flagged and who are crewed by Indonesians back to whence they came will do the same job...and this but won’t cost a cent!!!!… it is perfectly Legal for us to do no matter what “scare” campaign Labor are running against it…

The asylum seekers that will choose to live the rest of their lives on PNG will be pretty close to zero..99.99999999999% of them will opt to go home rather than end up living where their lives will be sh!t so there will be no cost to PNG.
In fact if the Libs decided to stop inviting people smugglers to test out the system the boats would stop tomorrow. Any more boats will be because of Abbott, Morrison and Hockey and their decision to play politics with peoples lives
