Shame.

The government has given Indonesia a lot of money for the upkeep of their refugee camps. They are at least safe there until they get a place here.

People sent to PNG to end up on Centrelink

#####

Yes, and will get PNG citizenship, then simply waltz into Australia.

Another trick from "ME TOO" Rudd.

This stupid scheme will end up like all his other ones, a dismal failure.
It's only for 12 months...until after the election.

After 12 months PNG will likely say truthfully that it's been a disaster and cancel it.
And the boats will poor in again...100,000 asylum seekers in his first term.
Well maybe 90,000...given the delay in the first half of next year.

He must have got that one from Howard .... over 90% of the refugees on Tampa ended up here anyway, mostly through NZ. I didn't see you bitch about it then ...

besides, they'll have a visa this time, and valid ID ... isn't that what you were worried about?

A TOTALLY baseless ASSUMPTION

If these refugees are settled in New Guinea - they have NO ACCESS to EITHER

( ... even as the panic sets in, Joe was being careful with his words - choosing "could" - over "would")

You got a reference for that or like everyone else (who possesses brains) shouldn't you be waiting for the details?

If they get the full dole over there they will be living like kings and I cannot see the locals liking that too much.

As with everything Rudd, devil is in the detail and implementation and so far he has not got a good record.  Belay that, he has a shocking record.

a reference for what? the fact that it's a baseless assumption? ... you just said we need to wait for the details ... or do you think Hockey got all the details ahead of everyone else?

No dimwit, a reference to the assertion that those being resettled in PNG having no access to medicare or centrelink.

I cannot believe I just had to explain that to you.  You are dumber than I initially thought.

As it currently stands, residents of PNG do not get access to Australia's Medicare or centre link, right? now unless you have other information you can reference that would make you suspect this to no longer be the case, why would you assume it has changed?

If you want dumb all you need is a mirror ... or a clean micro fibre cloth and a few minutes polishing up the monitor you are looking at.

Try 43% ended up here, the rest went home or elsewhere.

Valid ID and a visa? issued by PNG Smiley

We'll still have to house them and pay them welfare for life.
They still won't speak english and will likely never work.

We simply don't need them at all.

All Rudd's scheme is doing is sending them for a jungle holiday in PNG before settlement here.

I make no assumptions, that is why I have said several times I will wait on details.

Those making assumptions are the idiots or maybe just psychic claiming that they will not be able to access benefits.

Once more dumbo, I do not know, nor do I presume to know, unlike the clowns like yourself making proclamations in advance of anything about implementation what benefits they might receive and for how long.

I hope that is simple enough for you to understand.  But possibly not, you do seem especially thick.

And I will laugh like a fvucking drain at those stating that they will not get benefits IF it turns out that those resettled can access financial benefits provided by the oz taxpayer.

Once more dickhead cos you seem to be a slow learner I don't know nor do I presume to know, unlike your idiot self.

no, the claim was that they cannot claim .... and they can't. Should the legislation ever change I'm sure Skip will change that statement .. he's seems smarter than you.

Maybe next time you shouldn't just disagree for the sake of it.

eh?  I have been consistent in saying from my very first post when this was announced that the devil will be in the detail.  I made no clams about what the program details are cos I don't know.

And neither, bozo, do you.  But despite your ignorance you are still happy to declare that those resettled will not be able to access benefits.

I admit I don't know.

You presume to know.

Big difference.  You may be right. Maybe the policy does not include benefits but I sure as poo aint going on your say so cos you have no basis for saying so.

Or do you want to pretend you have knowledge of the policy that has not been revealed?

Here ya go bozo,

and again

And you were defending this

Quote:

I don't assume nothing, I don't know what the policy includes but you seem pretty smacking sure it doesn't include oz government benefits.

Time will tell.  You may be right.  I don't know, and if you were not so much of an idiot you would admit you don't know either.

I was never humanitarian anyway. This is a football game we're watching here and one team has to win. Wink

The good thing about getting them to live in PNG is that we're getting another government to evaluate them before our government does. It reduces the workload by half.

I don't think it was any different under the Howard Government. They can be let loose in PNG society where they can rob and steal and support themselves without social security -- or beg. At least it won't be our problem as much as it used to be. Cheesy Wink

I think that only applies to refugees. If they fail to prove they are refugees, they will have to pass an English literacy test. They will have to stay in PNG until they pass the test.

GIDEON Mahiro is one of about 3000 whose home is in line to be bulldozed to make way for a new refugee processing centre.

His shanty town, opposite the airport in Port Moresby, has been identified as a potential new site where genuine asylum seekers would be resettled in Papua New Guinea under the deal.

The 47-year-old electrician, a father-of-seven, sees brutal irony in his family being dispossessed of their tiny shack to make way for boatpeople out of Manus Island detention centre.

MORE: Rudd asylum-seeker deal half-baked

"It is a big headache," said Mr Mahiro, who trained for his trade at TAFE in Queensland.

"If the government wants to bulldoze us out of our homes, they can do it without a humanitarian thought," said Mr Mahiro, of the ATS settlement.

"They will send armed police in to forcibly evict us, they will raze this entire township to the ground, and me and my children, and thousands of others will be left without anywhere to live."

He paints a bleak picture of law and order, high unemployment and a desperate housing shortages in the nation's capital.

"I'm educated, middle-class, but this is a very expensive, dangerous, and difficult place to make a living.

"I think the PNG government has taken the big carrot of billions in aid funding, hoping the boatpeople will not come."

charity doesnt begin at home apparently!
