The only thing that Rudd has said about the cost is, "It will not be inexpensive."

He should underline that triple coated because it is going to cost the bloody earth.

He has agreed to underwrite all costs involved.

Just ponder for a moment what is involved.

1. All the costs of building accommodation, catering, medical.

2. Costs of processing then moving them on from Christmas Island or wherever they are initially processed.

3. The costs of providing them with an income presumably some form of mutant form of Newstart. It is very highly likely that 5 years down the track, we will still be paying their way, given that 85% of those already here are unemployed, chances of employment in PNG practically zero.

4. The kickback that Australia will give the PNG Government, most probably billions.

This is a terrible result for our economy. It will put the 12 billion we have already spent on these illegals into the shade. This economic black hole was created by Rudd who f....d it all up in the first place. Her is the direct reason we have 46,000 of the bludgers to look after here.

Who are 'they?'  You can only mean the handful of idiots who have decided that Manus Paradise is the place they'd like to spend the rest of their days....as opposed to....not getting on Achmed's boat, and joining the proper queue instead, or just buy a seat on Qantas.

If you want to go to Manus Paradise, (after risking death on the high seas) sure ..... pay Achmed.

How many do you reckon there will be Mr Baron?

Greens Win...The United Nations is the most f....d useless and most self important Corporation, yes Corporation that is exactly what the U.N. is. Everything they touch they f....k up.

There have been more people murdered whilst the U.N. stood idly by, often with U.N. troops on the ground whilst wholesale massacres were carried out.

The U.N. should be disassembled because it is worse than useless, it is an impediment, with grandiose plans to rule the world.

The thing with PNG is Rudd has once again put the horse before the court.

The UN should of been the first port of call.
All the worlds refugees should be pooled and then directed proportionally by the UN to the host countries so everyone shares the issue and gains the human skills and richness.

It is unfair PNG are gaining these talented people while we miss out.

So who is going to put up their hands to be a "host country". What happens when they don't want to go to the "host country" allocated to them.

Signed up countries to the new UN convention on Refugees.

If the refugees refuse a signed up country destination then they are shoppers.

This is a fairer way to share the issue and allow all countries to gain talented people as their citizens.

Aussie, Rudd could have been clever in this mess despite my reservations about an economic hell he may have dug for us.

Your intelligent question on how many is the moot point.

We will now find out just how many are refugees for a true refugee, PNG would represent freedom, for a Country Shopper a hell hole.

Word will already be on the streets in Indonesia. The Internet makes this an instant world. They would all know and they would all now right now, except for those already on boats enroute.

Brother aren't they in for the shock of their lives.

When we have a democratically elected world government, they will be.

Yet horse before the cart.

Woody is right on this one. Can't recall saying that in a long time.

One of the main issues I've had with our asylum seekers in UK is that they pass through Italy, Austria, France first. All signatories and safe countries.

My guess is that their rellies have already rung them and told them to go back, unless they are happy with Manus Paradise.

Oh, Red FFS!

The UN is only as effective as its membership allows it to be.

As for ruling the world that is as daft as anything I have read here in at least the last ten minutes.   Cheesy

TV news reports say the PNG population don't want this and I can't blame them.

One even predicted civil war.

That's strange DNA, I'm seeing exactly that hypocrisy and shallowness.

Guys allegedly humanitarian in nature and all for on shore processing of refugees seemingly in support of dumping thousands on a third world nation now and stripping them of any right to come to Australia.

Seems morals and principles are cheap these days in Australia.

Ahhh. So thats where that stupid argument comes from. Just like calling them "illegals" the argument was stolen from another country so it doesnt quite fit our country.
