Ocean Deep Taking The Heat
Jul 24th, 2013 at 8:50am

Climate change slowdown is due to warming of deep oceans, say scientists

Climate sceptics have seized on a pause in warming over the past five years, but the long-term trend is still upwards

There hasn't been any warming since 1998.

Even the IPCC aknowledge this.

And that hockey stick graph inconvienetly has ommited the medival warm period.

Deniers have been trumpting the slowdown in warming as vindication for their beliefs.

The trouble is they could never explain where the heat was going if not recorded at surface.  It just magically vanished seems to be their view.

With this data of the oceans continued heating, and the existing data of the upper atmosphere continued heating, at least some logic is applied.

Unfortunetly, this is not good news for the denier faithful.

Hey DJ

The only real evidence the IPCC has is in there computer simulated models.

These models are telling us that the tropopause is heating up because of the extra CO2 man is emitting this causes more water vapor to form and the cycle just repaeats itself as man throws up more CO2.

Sorry to bust your bubble but thousands of weather baloons and satellite data have FAILED to find this hot spot.

Are you are reasonable person cuase at this stage you should be asking yourself.

The main bit of evidence that has been used to tax us all on the air we breath doesn't exist in the real world.

Its truth that we should all seek not some religion based on lies.................................????!!!!!!!!??????!!!!

Wow...keepin' the AGW dream alive  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

So how did the so called heat get to deep sea levels when it wasn't recorded in the surface (not so deep) levels??????  Hahahahahaha  --  no answer.....

Look at the raw data...no warming.....adjusted and homogenised data (read corrupted) shows warming which this desperate lot will attribute to Man Made Global Warming.

We have just been handed the equivalent of 'the dog ate my homework'  Grin Grin  Everytime I see this junk science, I lose respect for all science.

The denier faithful are simply elongating the change-over to the new paradigm for the purposes of maximum retooling time! They know exactly what's going on- they all know experienced qantas pilots that told them eons ago rapid climate change is afoot!!

No - there has been clear and unambiguous warming of the earth since 1998.

THis can be seen in, amongst other things, the warming of the oceans:
Accounting for multiple sources of uncertainty, a composite of several OHCA curves using different XBT bias corrections still yields a statistically significant linear warming trend for 1993–2008 of 0.64 W m-2 (calculated for the Earth’s entire surface area), with a 90-per-cent confidence interval of 0.53–0.75 W m-2.
http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v465/n7296/pdf/nature09043.pdf

- the decrease in global glacial mass balance:
The average mass balance of the glaciers with available long-term observation series around the world continues to be negative, with tentative figures indicating a further thickness reduction of 0.83 metres water equivalent (m w.e.) during the hydrological year 2010. The new data continues the global trend in strong ice loss over the past few decades and brings the cumulative average thickness loss of the reference glaciers since 1980 at about 15 m w.e.
http://www.geo.uzh.ch/microsite/wgms/mbb/sum10.html

- the decrease in the arctic ice cap:
Compared to the 1981 to 2010 average, ice extent on July 15, 2013 was 1.06 million square kilometers (409,000 square miles) below average.
http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/

- the increase in sea level:
High quality measurements of (near)-global sea level have been made since late 1992 by satellite altimeters, in particular, TOPEX/Poseidon (launched August, 1992), Jason-1 (launched December, 2001) and Jason-2 (launched June, 2008). This data has shown a more-or-less steady increase in Global Mean Sea Level (GMSL) of around 3.2 ± 0.4 mm/year over that period.

Don't tell silly lies.

The IPCC does not acknowledge that there hasn't been any warming since 1998.

If you think it does - please show us a reference confirming this.

No - the error bars on that graph quite clearly indicates that a range of temperature anomalies may have occurred in the medieval period.
