He didn't twist anything. He showed exactly how your definition of tolerance makes all people guilty of being intolerant of something.

Tolerance does not mean tolerating intolerance, hate and violence.

Doesn't it?  Are there any more exceptions I should know about?

Well it should be intuitive.  Intolerance is the opposite of tolerance.

Are you tolerating somebody if you break their nose?

Are you tolerating somebody if you use hate speech against them?

Go on - add more examples of your own. You should have grasped the principle by now.

The Libs and ALP seem to be able to understand it.

Tolerance is to suffer, endure, bear something painful or hard or difficult, outside the normal. To put up with something disagreeable.

What if you find something outside the normal to be agreeable or neutral? (Whether or not you frame something as agreeable or disagreeable is an internal condition)

It's not all about  suffering or enduring unpleasantness. Your bandwidth tolerance is too narrow (30%). In other words, you're just picking up one of several aspects of the dictionary definition(s) or accepted usage, but not necessarily because you find them hard to endure, difficult or disagreeable.

tol·er·at·ed, tol·er·at·ing, tol·er·ates
1. To allow without prohibiting or opposing; permit.
2. To recognize and respect (the rights, beliefs, or practices of others).

3. To put up with; endure.

So if you're intolerant toward something (Christianity is something you are intolerant of, for example), do you also lack compassion for you fellow human beings? By your own logic, yes.

Everyone is intolerant of a number of things. The word intolerance has been thoroughly contaminated by "progressives" to mean something other than it should.

Royals have the right breeding - didn't you know that?
Cousins rooting cousins for centuries hasn't helped their DNA content.

But it's selective breeding like race horses.

Sure - you might get a stutterer now & then but overall they have done well.

All pedigree dogs have hip probams. They are the same . They are a bunch of inbred dummies lacking in genetic diversity.

I thought Kate is a common person like us?
Are you saying that she has royal blood?

Hahahaha not "like us" - she is filthy rich for generations. However she is now royalty. Her blood is as royal as the queens.

If I chose to break their nose our of anger, I obviously had had enough of tolerating them, which is fine - I don't think it's the great virtue that you do.  The better analogy is whether I would tolerate someone breaking someone elses nose.  The answer in most cases, is yes.  Ain't my business.

They are antonyms. It's like saying that dry is just another type of wet. Obviously it isn't. There is nothing difficult or magical about that.

That's right. If you are breaking their nose in anger, you are not tolerating them. Good.

Victoria defines it best, but all States have laws against discrimination and vilification, and these laws have been supported by governments from both sides of politics.

Quote:
A person must not, on the ground of the religious belief or activity of another person or class of persons, engage in conduct that incites hatred against, serious contempt for, or revulsion or severe ridicule of, that other person or class of persons.

Note: "engage in conduct" includes use of the internet or e-mail to publish or transmit statements or other material.

Section 11 of the Act provides this concession in favour of freedom of expression:

A person does not contravene section 7 or 8 if the person establishes that the person's conduct was engaged in reasonably and in good faith—

(a) in the performance, exhibition or distribution of an artistic work; or
(b) in the course of any statement, publication, discussion or debate made or held, or any other conduct engaged in, for—

(i) any genuine academic, artistic, religious or scientific purpose; or
(ii) any purpose that is in the public interest; or

(c) in making or publishing a fair and accurate report of any event or matter of public interest.
