Rudd's done the right thing by doing this.

He needs to get the message home to an essentially stupid electorate that the story
they've been getting re the economy is completely wrong.

He also has to overcome the Gillard-inspired 'switch off' people underwent whenever
Gillard attempted to do so.

And he has to slam Tony right in the nuts over his seditious lies about the economy.

Failure to do so will only result in the mistruths espoused in the preceding post to
become even more entrenched.

And this is why the con-alition are up in arms about it, they can't afford to let the
facts gain traction.

Getting  fed up being told  how little debt per person we have.

So we have AAA rating, big f....g deal, we still have 300 billion wracked up in 4 years, that money plus a swag of interest will have to be re paid.

I don't see any repayment going on, what I see is Rudd an Co. borrowing 100 million dollars a month just to pay the outgoings.

This Government are a bunch of financial vandals.

You can dress a turd up in a fancy doily but underneath its still a turd.

have you noticed he doesnt tell us what we have GOT for all this DEBT...

come on kruddyMk11 show us the roads and new hospitals..brand new schools.. we can afford to give Indonesia half a billion for a new school.. I am sure we have our share as well?..

gosh we didnt have a WAR either did we.

so where did it go????????????????

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has challenged Tony Abbott to a debate on asylum seeker policy in the 3AW studios.

In his first interview with a metropolitan radio station, Mr Rudd told Neil Mitchell he's prepared to stay in Melbourne an extra 24 hours to debate the Opposition Leader on Thursday.

Mr Abbott's office turned down the offer, but Mr Rudd upped the ante and offered to return to Melbourne any day next week.

Apparently you haven't listened to Abbott or Hockey?

Look at the Abbott unfunded spending commitments - over a Hundred billions and you think he could produce a surplus - well certainly not in his first decade.

How much do you think it's going to cost him to build great cities in the far north for public servants to inhabit on transfer????  Ho Ho Ho.  And you want to talk about economic reality ??? very very funny.

I imagine even a small city would cost hundreds of billions and then the infrastructure transport links etc - all unfunded of course??? Several of them please !!!!

Dnarever

Did not see them in the ad, your Abbott Abbott Abbott disease made you imagine they were in the ad.

You really do need help.

Hi Nail,
we owe $300 billion now. (Govt. debt )

After 3 more years of Rudd it will be over $600 billion -

he's just preparing us for that.

source?

Sorry - it's a guess based on past performance.

Unless the Govt. does something radical - like cut all public
servants pay by between 10% & 25% -  we'll have more debt.
They are not going to do that & suffer the wrath of the unions.

Sorry Bobby, but that's a load of bullsh1t. You are guessing numbers? Just plucking them out of your arse and then you act like the numbers are credible ....

We have just gone through one of the worst global economic periods since the great depression ... as that situation improves so will our budget figures.

I am sorry to be the bringer of bad news but our debt
will just keep on climbing - no matter who is in power.

Just about everyone I know has lost their job.
The economy is wrecked.

Sounds like rudd is becoming desperate.
Abbott is all but calling the tune.
rudd has not called an election, Abbott has done the right thing to not do anything rudd wants.

It's amazing to think how anyone could even think of voting for someone who won't even debate his own policies. It's even worse when you herald it as a good strategy. You've got to be a brain dead moron to want as your PM someone who can't even debate ideas with his opposition.

Are you both worried slogans don't cut it in a debate?

It's not funny.
I know of over 18 people who have lost their jobs in the last 3 months.
The same problem in every place:
the phones stopped ringing -
no one wants to buy anything -
all Govt. contracts stopped as well.

I'm sure you do know them. But people find and lose jobs all the time.

Job losses in one area or one industry are not indicative of the whole bloody economy.

you don't think there were any unemployed during Howards years Cods? There are always unemployed people. People lose jobs while other people start jobs. Businesses start and businesses close. It's a cycle. Overall, there were 4 million more jobs created country wide than what there were when labor came into govt.

I have a bad feeling about the economy.
We seem to be ignoring it & concentrating on boat people -
which is not the real issue.
