so do I. I think the economy is heading for a rough patch regardless of who wins the election.

yet when I have stated this exact thing with mine backed up by -

FX trading over the last quarter
Chinese economic growth statistics
Global employment factors
Australia consumer spending forecast

You get all worked up and start defending the Australian economy and saying how awesome it is??

Did I ? Ok, show me where I said that ...... we all know you wouldn't be making up things like that now, don't we Andrei?

It's also important to point out that whilst I think we are heading for a rough patch, I don't think it will be all bad. Things will slow down, sure, but it all depends on the outcome of the next election. If Labor wins we should still keep ticking over, slower growth and higher cost of living pressures but we'll keep moving in the right direction. If Abbott wins on the other hand, recession here we come.

Higher cost of living pressures in a country where you already pay 40% more than I do in the UK or US for the same things?

That sounds promising.

lets just pretend the higher wages don't matter

There is a similar price difference using KLM, British Airways, Air France, take your pick.

You seriously arent challenging that you pay more in Australia are you?

Not at all.  I'm hoping you can explain why, given your intimate knowledge of the airline industry and all.

Oh look, another thread Andre has made about himself and how much better he thinks everything is outside of Australia.

How is the US Andre, spending plenty of time with the family are we?

This is nothing about myself and everything about how Australia is a rip off and people pay far and above what the rest of the developed world do.

But you carry on paying it verge.

Aussie - Rather than beat around the bush here, we'll cut to the chase and I'll ask you outright.

Do you believe Australia has an overall significantly higher cost of living that the European Union and the United States?

I'm giving you the facts, in Australia you pay on average a good 30-40% and more on a lot of items than I do in the UK

Gee, I'm doing okay here.  You started at 65%, and after just  a few questions, you are down to 30-40%.  I know sfa about this stuff, but it's pretty clear you have no idea either Mr Hicks.

I have to agree with Andrei on this one ... we are ripped off compared to other countries. We have no real competition.

Really, Mr Hicks?  Can you provide a decent cross section of examples?

Did I Aussie?

I thought I started at 40.

Yeah, I know we do, but I also know that my son-in-law Pom 'environmental engineer' earns more money dealing with sh1t in Australia than he does doing the same job in the UK.  Same with his Wife, my youngest step-daughter.  She earns much more in Australia as an OT than she does in Scotland.

Nah I've only lived in all 3 countries in the last decade. What would I know.

Apology accepted.

I was waiting for him to get to that bit, I even tried to remind him of it, but Andrei is onlyinterested in the negative side of things.

No apology was offered.  I made a concession that as with most blokes having my qualifications, I know sfa about economics and even have trouble with simple arithmetic.  Always check your Lawyer's addition, they are hopeless.

As for what you'd know having lived 'in all 3 countries,' well, I can only go by what you post here.

By you readily apologize for stating (incorrectly- which is loose for a lawyer) that I started at 65%?

I dunno Your Honour, but with steadfast determination and skill unimaginable, I beat you down to 30-40%, and in one case, you really did refer to 65%, Your Honour.
