you have an aversion to facts perhaps? Our debt levels are low, and we are one of only 8 countries with 3 AAA ratings.

Or Perhaps you think he should have Jones or Bolt doing his adds?

Hi Nail,
we owe $300 billion now. (Govt. debt )

After 3 more years of Rudd it will be over $600 billion -

he's just preparing us for that.

Didn't Goldman Sucks give triple AAA ratings to a lot of institutions before they went belly up during the GFC ?? I wouldn't place to much credence on three letters of the alphabet Sad

Contrary to Tony Abbott's claims otherwise, Australia's AAA credit rating is not "under threat". Just last month, Steven Hess of international ratings agency, Moody's reported "we consider the risk of a negative rating action to be relatively low despite the Commonwealth budget remaining in deficit for longer than targeted." He added that the Government's net debt remained low by world standards (10 per cent of GDP versus 90 per cent in the US and 140 per cent in Greece, 100 per cent in Italy, 117 per cent in Japan and 30 per cent in Canada).

Australia is one of just eight countries to have a AAA rating from the three major global ratings agencies. Fitch upgraded its Australian rating to AAA for the first time in 2011 and has reiterated its confidence in the Australian economy since Wayne Swan rolled back from his rolled gold promise to deliver a surplus in 2012/13.

Sorry - it's a guess based on past performance.

Unless the Govt. does something radical - like cut all public
servants pay by between 10% & 25% -  we'll have more debt.
They are not going to do that & suffer the wrath of the unions.

That's what I don't get, John.

The facts are there for all to see, but these rag-dicks in the Con-alition and their
pig-ignorant supporters simply refuse to see them.

I've said it before, and I'll smacking keep saying it...

THEY"RE TOO smacking STUPID AND/OR IGNORANT TO DESERVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE.

I despise wilful, wanton, self-imposed pig-ignorance. And the coalition and its conga-line are rife with it.

In REAL terms ( ... or as a percentage of GDP)  Australia has one of - if not THE - lowest foreign debt in the WORLD

We DO have high levels of debt.
In fact it is the largest in our history in dollar terms and very close to the largest in GDP terms. and what is worse is that only a mere 6 years ago we have NO DEBT at all.

Even John Howard is capable of coming clean with the TRUTH - occasionally - and giving
credit, where credit is DUE

Quote:
Former prime minister
John Howard gave the economy a big tick
before Treasurer Wayne Swan delivered his sixth budget on Tuesday night.

''And our debt to GDP ratio, the amount of money we owe, to the strength of our economy, is still a lot better than most other countries,'' he said.

He said
Australia's economy was better than the economies of Japan, the US and most European countries.

This is in stark contrast to his protege and Opposition Leader Tony Abbott's assessment of doom and gloom on Monday
.

http://www.smh.com.au/opinion/political-news/resilient-economy-in-better-shape-t...

Australia’s
GFC stimulus debt
is the second lowest in the OECD.
Gross debt stands at 28.9% of GDP.

This compares to Japan at 224%,
Greece at 193.2%,
Portugal at 133.1%,
Italy at 129.6%,
Ireland at 127.7%,
United States at 113%,
France at 108.2%,
UK at 110.4%,
Canada at 85.5%,
Spain at 100.2%
Germany at 86.2%.

Sorry Bobby, but that's a load of bullsh1t. You are guessing numbers? Just plucking them out of your arse and then you act like the numbers are credible ....

We have just gone through one of the worst global economic periods since the great depression ... as that situation improves so will our budget figures.

you're a dreamer smith.

The GFC was caused by inflating a massive property bubble by doling out loans to dead beats. So what did labor do to avoid it after the bubble burst ?? It encouraged yet more speculation and inflation of the property bubble !! Go figure !!

Instead of creating new industries with a future it was business as usual for all of the property spruikers and the bubble is still being inflated today with yet more and more debt Sad Labor is just as corrupt as the subprime scammers in the US. And to add insult to injury labor taxes high tech startups so they can never startup as long as they are here.

The sooner labor and liberal are thrown into the political rubbish bin the better it will be for all of us.

can you just leave your anti property bullsh1t out of this? The GFC was caused because of the prime mortgage debacle .... it had nothing to do with negative gearing.
