Lucky Country or Cash Cow

Our resources should be owned by our government……now that’s a lucky country.

With the implementation of Milton Freidman’s model of capitalism by Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan in the early 1980’s followed by the rest of the world we now have a system that places the riches of every country on Earth in the hands of a few elite moguls.

We always hear our politicians say we are the lucky country and we have riches in the ground blah blah blah.

But when these statements are made no journalist or member or the audience or commentator ever says yes we are lucky and yes we have resources but who is actually gaining from our resources?

It certainly isn’t Australia and her people, its corporations and the few greedy moguls that own them world wide.

I think most countries get about 6% royalties from letting corporations dig up their wealth.

Would it make us a communist country if our government owned and mined our natural resources, certainly not?

Although Milton Freidman train of thought would probably be yes we are communist if these things take place,  I so no it wouldn’t.

It’s a form of brain washing to justify the wealth falling into a few hands rather than being shared by the people of that nation.

It’s like when our governments owned our utilities and commonwealth bank and telecommunications and public transport, were we a communist nation back then, certainly not!!!

Why then would it be any different now if we owned and exploited not only our natural resources but our utilities, commonwealth bank, telecommunications, public transport  etc etc.

There’s a reason why private corporations want to own all these things they’re very profitable.

For instance our commonwealth bank was making $5 billion dollars profit before it was sold.

Our telecommunications was making $7 billion dollars profit before it was sold.

Why would you sell them??

Remember the lies we were told about electricity and competition between the different corporations, well who amongst us has ever received a bill that informs you of a decrease in your energy expense?

All governments need a steady source of revenue every year so they can run the country.

If we indeed owned all our utilities and resources just imagine how many billions of dollars our government would have??

This could open the way for very low taxes here in Australia which is the way it should be.

Now throw in our government owning all our natural resources, they would bring in billions of dollars for Australia and her citizens, we could be one of the lowest taxed nations in the world.

Pensioners would be on a much better wicket being able to afford top shelf instead of bottom of the barrel.

Imagine if we owned our own commonwealth bank and the Reserve bank decreased housing loans ¼ % our commonwealth bank would pass this decrease on verbatim, forcing the other private banks to do the same, today our commonwealth bank is private and you have seen what they say we cannot pass on the full reduction blah blah………………………

Its time our government ruled for Australia and all Australians and not for a few greedy men who are going to end up owning the whole world.

Its time our government claimed back our utilities and natural resources so Australians can indeed reap the rewards of being a lucky country.

Now that they've sold everything and get peanuts for letting corporations mine our wealth.

Where do they turn if they want to increase the revenue...they turn to us the people and taxation.

Thoughts........................

Just wondering as to where the government gets the $50 -$100 + bil a year to build all of the mines and LNG operations around Australia to fullfill this socialist utopia you speak of.

You are looking at the government taking in about
$359 bil
a year now in total tax revenue and it will need to find or borrow about a third of that again just to maintain it's own gas and mining industry with no garanttee that reurns will be forth coming in the short medium or long term. But you never know they might make some money and pay back those massive loans, that's if the can borrow that much in the first place, make our current deficite look damn good.  Smiley

So great idea, until you have a bit of a think about it.
