Ah, yes - the old standard issue race for "make 'em work for the dole, those bludgers!" to get the sleeping mind vote onside while the country goes to rack and ruin.

I can see plenty of work being done on a cheese and noodles diet with no hope of a solid future.... kinda reminds you of..............

It must be because the little 'Brunette' (Brown) Hobbit Rudd (Alias The Milky Bar Kid, alias Mr Peebody) who's hair went kinda white, fooled everyone into thinking he was true Blonde and Aryan as an Angel.  Wink

But we know we can't 'really' have a Blonde-haired, blue-eyed Political Leader in the World because we all know that such men are RACISTS  Wink and evil like Julian Assange.  Cheesy
Oh, and are Gay too  Grin

...oh, and because they would probably tell the TRUTH.

From the OP's link ..

A leaked Labor Government election initiative would see unemployed young people forced to attend boot camps in order to be paid the dole. The idea is being touted as a possible election policy with youthful job seekers aged 15 to 21 attending army-style camps enforcing strict discipline, in order to receive unemployment benefits. The news was broken by the Sydney Morning Herald yesterday and the relevant Government ministers – Bill Shorten (Education Minister), and Kate Ellis (Workplace Participation Minister)) have so far refused to comment. The policy is one of a range of election campaign strategy proposals before the Federal Government’s Expenditure Review Committee. The proposal would mean a reallocation of funds from providers of Jobs Services Australia to specialist providers of the new, tougher discipline, delivery.

NO NO NO!

Compulsory Army Service = the answer.

You either attend Uni or College or work. Failing these alternatives .. the ARMY awaits.

And the same applies to those malignant pests who sit around on politics forums across Oz complaining that dole cheques need to increase.

Well actually, we're neither malignant, nor pests.

But we are correct, and we are fully justified.

And we're not going away, so better get used to it.

And don't bother with the 'get a job' barbs, as I have one, thanks.

Rudd and his advisers know that they must shift to the right if they want to stay in power.

Garbage. You just think they should.

The country should be distancing itself as far as possible from the lunatic Far Right.

The election will tell the story. If the majority of the populace were leftards then the Greens would have been in power ages ago.

That's OK, I don't vote for the Far Left either.

But, enjoy your delusion if it helps you feel better.

It's no delusion. Both Rudd and Abbott have proposed a work for the dole scheme, and one of them will win.

We already have a work for the dole' scheme, thanks to the maggot, Howard.

Its purpose is purely punitive, there is no training whatsoever, and
there are no positive outcomes at the end.

In short, it simply doesn't work.

Nothing proposed by either party addresses the real issues, just promises to
make life even harder for the unemployed.

And I don't support either party's 'policy' on the unemployed.

It worked for every one I knew who done it. It's to help long term unemployed get a bit of self-esteem and bit of extra cash. It's only "punitive" if you've got a persecution complex or live the delusion that no one ought to tell you what to do.

Heaps of Aged Care work around.
Heaps!

The Military can't really afford anything, let alone new recruits,
so it should me mandatory Aged Care (more of a national priority than mercenary missions for the USA and just marching around barracks in shiny shoes while having orgies with the female staff)

I worked Aged Care. Loved it! Hard work, got to see women who could work just as hard and appreciate how hard they can work. More flexible in shifts than Bar Work and Cafe Latte waitering.
Learn't, unlike in the Army, what it means to work harder by carrying female staff's 'load' while they were pregnant too.

Too late, Lisa!  I've done army, eighteen hour days weeks on end in the boonies without showers etc, over the hills and very far away, security for some very illustrious people in the world, some stuff you never will hear of apart from maybe some Hollywood tilt at it, and I'm now on pension... I'd like a pay rise commensurate with that of our 'political masters'... who get more tax-free sustenance money per day in Cambella than the dole recipient gets for a week...

I do not think boot camps or the army will do it for all those young people.

a)  Many are not fit enough, physically or mentally

b) Instructors will go mad trying to train the unwilling

c)  We will be seen as warmongers by the warmongers in the Asian Pacific Basin

d) What? 50% girls - make me laugh.

e)  The cost of military training for that number is enormous, and the facilities are simply not there..

I like the idea in some ways, but it is not practical.  The idea has been done to death.

What age do you want them?  Too young to drink but old enough to screw?  How much population increase will we see from co-ed barracks etc?  Shocked

If you're on a pension TODAY esp after working in such far out positions .. how is it that you're not a self funded retiree?

Did you never think about working so as to SAVE for your future at all? Did that totally escape your attention. Hmm?
