Seriously its all about money. You ppl that judge what others do hop on your bandwagons but what if something you do gets taxed like that? How about alcohol? Junk food? Sugar!? Churches. Churches are bad for you and should be taxed. Oh and pharmaceutical drugs. Better tax those. Make sure anyone that uses arthritis medication is penalised with outrageously high prices.

(no i dont smoke)

As the Libs have accepted $3M from the tobacco industry over the past years, surely they must oppose this tax increase to keep their donation coming in?

What a hypocrite Kevin Rudd, you say your party does not accept donations from big tobacco yet you have no problems big pay rises for politicians funded by a massive taxes on smokers. the bloke better not campaign anywhere near my area because he might just get a thump in the head from me.

Did the Coalition oppose the pay rises?   By the outrage in your posting I guess they must have.   I wonder how Kev and Co pushed it through without bipartisan support?

The Libs are not the ones going round saying they don't accept money from big tobacco are they. If anything Rudd's Team Labor accept more money from smokers as they have introduced more taxes on smokers then anyone. Its called creative accounting. They have been taking notes off Swan I think.
