$33 billion write down in 3 months.

Govenment has proposed:
1. FBT changes.  On review I think these are reasonable.  FBT is an entitlement for work benefits and personal use needs to have tax on it.  So, how do teachers, police, etc, those who tony wants to "end the hit" on use these lease vehicles for work?  You can't claim to and from work.  What Tavel for work is involve with these vehicles?  And if none then id rather government pay our police, teachers, etc, more than suggest they continue to make use of a tax loop hole.
Anyway... TONY OPPOSES FBT.

2. Bank levy.  TONY OPPOSES (at least by the sounds of his treasury idiot).

3. Sin tax.  Tony is even here electioneering!  I don't think I've seen a politican electioneer against rises to sin taxes.

Then there's:
1. Gonski he will keep.
2. His own proposed STOP THE BOATS measures
3. Private health rebate he will remove mean testing
4. Carbon tax he will cut but keep the revenue, and in place offer billions to deweed the country.
5. Mining tax he will scrap
6. Tax on $100,000+ super contributions he opposes
7. Proven underfunded paid parental leave.

So far, mr DEBT AND DEFICIT is opposed to all spending cuts proposed.

And what's he offered? $12 billion growth to GDP (not tax collection) by cutting red tape.

If we have a slowing economy and a structural problem to the budget then I'd prefer the party that offers some suggestion than the party that cries about the debt but offers no alternative and opposes all spending cuts.

How will tony return the budget to surplus?

well if you are so friggin' smart why not tell Abbott AND Rudd how to do it.  Or are you so smug and stupid at the same time to not notice that the budget is in freefall under Labor??  It is in fact so bad and getting worse so fast that it is difficult to imagine Abbott doing worse.  Rudd has NO IDEA what he is doing and never did.  Swan was a well-meaning but useless buffoon.

But you dnnt have any ideas, do you - just allegiances.

Fairly sure in a previous post you told me it was really easy with the current spending of the Labor Government, and that Abbott needs to only cut spending by 50% and raise revenue by 70%. I asked you how he intended to do it. You offered no reply.  Why?

probably because I didn't say it.  That could be your first clue.

QLDs debt has been building up for years... they only have themselves to blame for the floods as they never prepared and even built in flood prone areas...

but that's STATE government which has nothing to do with the Federal campaign...

why even bring it up>?  Roll Eyes

but truth be known.... State Labor have left debt in their wake in nearly every state and now the Libs have to try and pay it back...

this is why they say that DEBT is in Labors DNA...

it doesn't matter whether its state of federal LABOR ALWAYS leaves us in DEBT when they are finally booted out...

so im unsure why anyone would ever vote for them again... puzzling..  Undecided

Never underestimate the party of the people as labor party likes to call itself, they are crap at governing, but campaigning is a different story, they are better in that.

Ok, What about WA's debt? .... opps, there was none. If Qld really had an $80B debt, he could have had anyone audit the books for him ... the only reason he got Costello was because he needed someone who would lie for him. Thousands of qualified and competent auditors, and he chose Costello .... keep burying your head Longy

You can say that with a straight keyboard after the Howard government - amazing.

If Labor incurred the debt - leftards thinks the debt does not exist

If LIBs incur a small debt - leftards convince themselves to falsely multiply by 10

Actually the track record really shows that only one Liberal government ever produced a surplus and that over 90% of them don't even go close.

The prospective Liberal government we are currently looking at shows all the signs of having no hope with extravagant spending locked in and a senior economic team which looks better suited to stand up fiscal comedy.

Does that try to explain how the last Howard surplus got from $14 B up to $30B or higher retrospectively ????

I think you will find some exaggeration from some individuals on all sides.
