What kind of people does he think we are?

For possibly the first & last time in my life I find myself in agreement with Ian Rintoul.
Whatever we might decide to do ourselves with boat people - and my advice for a naval blockade and return will eventually be adopted - it is absolutely not acceptable to do what Rudd is proposing.
I heard Tony (how a nice bloke has been sucked into the vortex) Burke saying he had identified a site on Manus for another 10,000.
And then there is Nauru.
It is unacceptable & immoral for us to duckshove OUR problem onto struggling Polynesians and Melonesians just because neither side is prepared to make the tough decisions ON OUR OWN.
We know why PNG is happy to take them. They have had corrupt politicians for years and they are rubbing their hands at getting them on our billions.
And poor old Nauru is just quite simply afraid to say no.
What is it going to do to these places when we dump thousands upon thousands of muslims onto them?
They are going to all live happily ever after, just as Peppa the Pig flies round my living room every day.
We don't want them because of the integration problem so we are going to give it to our neighbours instead. And all because they think we don't care who we damage just as long as it's not us.
The only solution is that they go back to Indonesia - a muslim country - which shouldn't have let them through in the first place. It's their problem.

Tony and Kevin have much the same policies when it comes to those coming here by boat to claim asylum so when you rag on Kevins policies you are also ragging on Tonys.
I reckon they should go back to John Howards idea of charging the reffos for saving them and then for accommodation, food etc I know a lot of asylum seekers racked up some massive bills under Howards watch Cheesy

Consistency seems to be an issue here.

Aussie, the last comment was meant in the sense of it should be their problem. They let them into their country and they have done precious little to stop them coming here. Let's send them back there.

But my main point is this. Kevin Rudd is banking on the fact that most Australians are happy, if someone dumps rubbish in their front yard, to throw it over the fence into next door.
Are we going to allow him to trade on this? Will you vote him in on the basis that this is what he thinks of you?

PNG has been receiving an annual dole from the Australian taxpayer of around $500 million a year.

We've paid our dues.

Rudd is calling in the favours by asking that they take in a few of these boat-people riff-raff.

And now PNG is due to receive further millions of Big Bucks from the Land of Oz.

I'll bet the East Timor leadership is now spitting chips at all the cash PNG has just won in its deal with Australia.
