I remember Abbotts performances in the people's forums in 2010.  He was very good, very convincing but most importantly he then went on to tell people what his plans were, and he explained his position on matters.

Then the idiot walks out of the room and winds back up in attack dog three word slogan mode and his message was completley lost.

Based on the peoples forums I watched I wouldnt underestimate Abbott.  As long as he focuses on what he is going to do and not what Labor has done and projects positivity like he did in those forums, he could very well take them out.

You underestimate your opponent at your own peril.

I work with someone who used to work with Abbott before politics and he has nothing but praised for him as a very impressive, very talented and very passionate person.  He DOES suffer from foot-in-mouth disease and always has but as my friend commented 'most people consider that to be honesty!'

LABOR wants as many federal election debates as possible, its campaign spokeswoman Penny Wong says.

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Opposition Leader Tony Abbott will face off on Sunday night in the first debate of the federal election campaign.      Smiley

Senator Wong says the conditions of Sunday's debate are still being negotiated, but she says Labor wants more debates than the Liberals have offered.

"We are in the cart for as many debates as possible. Kevin Rudd's made that clear," Senator Wong told ABC radio in Melbourne.      Smiley

"He offered to debate Tony Abbott, I think every week, in a number of debates between now and the election.

"Mr Abbott's been, I think, somewhat reluctant."      Sad

The Liberals want Sunday leaders' debate plus two people's forums - one in western Sydney and one in Brisbane.

Sunday's debate will be held at the National Press Club at 6.30pm (AEST).

Ummm, it's a lie that Abbott has been reluctant to debate Rudd. Abbott had said on numerous occasions that he'd be happy to participate in an election debate any time - once an election was called. It's a bit hard to have an election debate without first calling an election!

Rudd didnt want an election debate, he wanted a debate about the economy.

Abbott refused the debate on the grounds that if Rudd wanted to debate he should recall parliament.  The stupidity of that statement is I have yet to see a debate in the house of reps.  All I see is cheap shots from each side in the worst display of behaviour in a manner that cannot be effectively moderated because out of 150 members only about 10 respect the place and the rest chant and nod like idiots.

Abbott could have easily accepted and instead tried to use it as a bargaining chip in getting Rudd to announce the election date on his terms and not Rudds.

there was no reason to debate Rudd.  As we have seen in the past, Rudd is a slippery character and all he wasnted was for Abbott to revela his policies as indeed he would have to in such a debate.  But just like julias attempt in January by announcing the election date, it failed.  Abbott is too clever for such amateur hour stunts.

An unnamed source within the LNP, who wishes to remain anonymous, has revealed that Abbott is having his AV link implanted on Saturday evening.

a long, long list of NAMED sources in the ALP have revealed that Rudd is a micromanaging, indecisive, psychopathic, narcissistic egotist and that every single member of caucus loathe him with a depth that is palpable.

Tony just CAN'T win here
REGARDLESS of policy, ideology, vision, credentials, etc. ...

He's CRAP at debating

Rudd will DEMOLISH him - at every TURN - on every OCCASION

But he can't RUN AWAY
That'd look WORSE

Well let's see - he is a volunteer firefighter, surf lifesaver and helps a remote NT Aboriginal community at the end of every year.

Meanwhile, what community work does Rudd do?
