Personally I think Rudd looked weak and had his arse handed to him.

No one expected Abbott to win - they expect Rudd clearly dominate Abbott

They expect a victory tonight would re-invigorate their campaign

When that didn't eventuate - the lefties are left milling around wondering what happened

From Abbott's point of view - he knows he can keep up with Rudd in the personality stakes.

From Rudd's point of view - he might have realised he's not all that. If not the next debate will be see Abbott edge ahead even further

No one expected Abbott to win - they expect Rudd clearly dominate Abbott

You sure ??

You really need to get over your unreasonable and unnecessary dislike of Tony Abbott.

They both lost on answering questions. Makes me think the next debate will be a waste of my time and electricity.

I'm looking forward to further debates if they happen. These events happen once every three years. They come and go. I don't care if the presentations have low quality. I will watch them and evaluate them. It's nothing personal. I have seen plenty of lacklustre movies, just so I know everything I can possibly know about them.

That's just a still-frame snapshot. I wouldn't look too much into it.

Dont you mean he didnt answer many questions? He hasnt stopped his hate campaign on gillard and has just swapped it to rudd and its the wrong strategy. What he needs to do is answer some questions reasonably without abuse and tell us about some policies but we know he isnt going to do that.

The Only time I can recall anything significant coming out of a debate was Howard over Keating, not even sure if that translated into votes as Keating was pretty much toast anyway.

A good comment neferti and quite appropriate.

It was all ONE BIG YAWN!

It was all very predictable & neither Rudd nor Abbott went remotely close to addressing the real issues, in particular the Economic ones, mainly because neither Labor nor Liberal have any idea what the hell is going on and neither would be remotely interested in addressing the underlying Economic issues anyway, because that would interfere with their own "perceived" short term self interests & those short term interests of their supporters!!

Little does either Rudd/Labor or Abbott/Liberal realise that REALITY HAS NO INTEREST IN ANYONE'S SELF INTEREST, REALITY IS ONLY INTERESTED IN REALITY!!!

'wrong strategy'?  with every poll showing higher numbers fo Abbott and less for Rudd I don't think so.

Rudd Won the debate.

Quote:
AAP

Kevin Rudd may have had a narrow victory in the first leaders' debate but the prime minister's performance was marred by his use of notes, in clear breach of the rules.

An average of three commercial television network polls taken after Sunday night's debate favoured Mr Rudd at 51 per cent to 49 per cent for opposition leader Tony Abbott.
