"Good-for-nothing dogs"?  Yep, they certainly are (probably a bit unfair to dogs, actually).

They won't be executed though bobby.  You'll have to satisfy your bloodlust somewhere else.

Life imprisonment, or life without parole is the maximum they'll face.

Actually - they do have the death penalty in that State.
The Yanks know what to do with murderers.

These little thugs won't be executed, bobby.

Under a 2005 U.S. Supreme Court ruling, they cannot receive the death penalty because they were under 18 at the time of the crime.

They said on the ABC news that they can get the death penalty.

I'm no expert on draconian US laws, however, I believe that "Roper v. Simmons (2005)" will prevent them from being executed.

I could be wrong, but that's very unlikely   Wink

We'll see.
They all look retarded to me:

I'd rather not look at them.

But, yes.  Let's see if they use that as a defense.

In the
United States of America
- due to
a gun culture
Australians will never understand - you are
FIFTEEN TIMES
more likely to be SHOT, WOUNDED or KILLED than you would in our homeland

Does the Federal Government website http://www.smartraveller.gov.au/zw-cgi/view/Advice/United_States_of_America warn you of this statistic ?

NO

HERE'S a thought ...

Tim Fischer, Australian Politician, Urges Boycott Of U.S. Following Christopher Lane Shooting Death

The Huffington Post
08/20/2013 4:47 pm EDT

An Australian politician has urged tourists from that country to boycott the United States in response to the shooting death of Melbourne baseball player Christopher Lane.

Tim Fischer, who served as deputy prime minister under John Howard from 1996 to 1999, urged Australians not to travel to the United States.

He said that such a boycott would send a message about the need for tighter gun control regulations in the United States, according to News.com.au.

"I am deeply angry about this because of the callous attitude of the three teenagers (but) it's a sign of the proliferation of guns on the ground in the USA," Fischer said this week.
"This is the bitter harvest and legacy of the policies of the NRA..."

As deputy prime minister, Fisher led Australia's gun control reforms in the late '90s alongside Howard

There are three of them : Which one was last in the pecking order?

He's probably the one that pulled the trigger.

It's quite possible that two of these kids had no intention of anyone getting shot.

I would interrogate them very thoroughly to see who actually pulled the trigger, and if this shooting of a person was a surprise to the ones who didn't pull the trigger.

Did they all agree to shoot someone for the hell of it, or did one of them do this on an impulse?

The bigger the crime, the more the obligation on the part of the investigators to make sure no one hangs for another's actions.

You are joking aren't you?
Are you telling the rest of us that you wouldn't be aware of the dangers of American gun culture if you were to visit over there? Indeed we did and do understand it.Thats why we went about outlawing guns after Tasmania.Or weren't you around to learn that terrible lesson that we never wan't to have to learn again?
America is sick. The rest of the world are aware of it but unfortunately we are not the patient.

I think the thug who pulled the trigger actually walked into a police station and admitted what he had done.

I could be wrong, but I think I heard that on a news report in the very early hours of this morning (was half asleep).

Contentious point: firstly I could say they probably all knew a gun was in the equation. It would be my guess that if they all knew a gun was in the equation then the leniency won't be great...

I actually feel really nervous about what is going to happen to these little tryhards: sure- they messed up but it's just doing my head in the torture they are about to receive either way!

I think it's a good point: the tourist dollar may need to be hit! Official messages speak volumes!

Well done to buzz I say for pointing this out!

Welfare? The US doesn't have welfare - not as we know it in Australia. For example, unemployment benefits are only paid for 6 months, and only for a person who lost a job through no fault of their own.

Payments to families last only two years, and there is a lifetime maximum of five years.

THe US has nearly 50 million people living in poverty - they have a higher percentage of people living in poverty than Indonesia!

The US also has a very high number of people incarcerated for property crimes.

The US has the highest incarceration rate in the world at 716 per 100,000.

Australia has a much lower rate 130 per 100,000.

Do you understand what is meant by poverty?
