What skin color?

Henry Louis Wallace Between September of 1992 and March of 1994, Wallace raped and strangled nine young black women in Charolette, North Carolina. They were all people he knew

Carlton Gary The victims were seven white women, the oldest victim was just shy of 90 years old.

Celeophus Prince Jr Between January and September of 1990, he murdered six women in San Diego. He stabbed one of his victims over 50 times and left bloody circles around his victims breasts. This would become his signature. Prince even killed a mother and daughter and bragged about it to a friend

Are you comparing a serial rapist with a terrorist?

You don't have any other arguments to protect your thesis in public?

For me the question is this; would capital punishment deter these sorts of crimes?

I think the certainty of capital punishment would deter potential murderers, but pose an increase in danger to the public when apprehending them. I think most people can agree on the concept of natural justice. We can have a liberal civilisation, with the harshest penalties reserved for the most heinous crimes.

The only reason we don't have that now, is due to the attrition of rich people over time, mitigating the harshest effects of the law upon themselves and their families. Only a very few special interest groups would see any alternative but to take those individuals involved out the back, put them down like dogs and bury them in the woods. Of course if we had proper distribution of resources, the sort of deprivation that leads to this sort of thing could be totally avoided, but that's another story; one of the special interest groups.

I don't think any kind of punishment would deter these kind of people. It is clear that there is something far deeper at play than a lack of fear of punishment.

Three kids kill someone just for the sake of it. I could not even imagine one person being so messed up to do such a thing. But for three of them to all agree to do it is mind blowing. You would think that when the first person suggested such a thing the other two would say "WTF is wrong with you?". But no, they were more than willing to go along with it. Just as amazing is the fact that after they killed the bloke they seemed to do little to avoid the consequences of this action. They just didn't seem to care, and one was apparently finding the whole thing funny whilst being in court. He is looking at spending the rest of his life in gaol, and he finds the whole thing a joke?

I don't know how the USA is ever going to fix the problems happening these days. There has always been crazy people, but now it is becoming an epidemic. Threat of death, banning guns, stopping violent video games, etc won't do anything. It is almost as if some people are born with some kind of brain mutation that no longer allows them to be human.

Punishments are just that, punishments.

If punishments deterred criminals, then there would be no crime or criminals.

But it would still be a line in the sand, even if it operates solely as a garbage disposal mechanism. I have strong feelings about violence though, anyone raising their hand should know full well what to expect. I would rather we had MUCH harsher anti-violence and bullying laws.

But these types of rubbish need to be disposed of, if there is any crack at all in the resolve of civil society, a culture will form around exploiting it, that is just the nature of living things. So sad and cruel as it may seem, just as with the boat people, a line HAS to be drawn and allowed to sink in.

It's that or allow us to bear arms and defend ourselves, but we have gone too far down the path of totalitarian oppression for that option. So basically we have to suck it up and live in fear, the rich people will never allow true natural justice for their sons 'mistakes'. After all, boys will be boys..

USA is an anything goes, sink or swim society. The types of unnatural, sub-human conditions many people find themselves in there makes civilisation look like a pipe dream.

The use of premeditated state-sanctioned killing as a form of punishment (or a "line") is certainly not the sign of a civilised society.
