or it just someone else's perceived attitude too them.

what would you have done greg fined him or did the decent thing and asked him to remove his feet.

Fined him; the maximum penalty.  No questions asked.

An adult who thinks it's OK to put their feet up on the seat on public transport needs to learn some hard lessons, fast.

I still can't believe that he put his feet on the seat in the first place.

Makes me wonder about his upbringing.

you then greg are the definition of a ignorant Australian that shows no respect to anyone.

a decent Australian would tell him the error of his ways and move on.

complete stupidity.

Not putting your feet on the seat is showing respect for other people.

Whose money pays to fix and replace worn out and broken public property? The people.
Who has to sit on the seat that has had someone's feet on it? Other people.
What are guards, police, inspectors, security, etc?  People!

Why should the person doing the wrong thing be shown respect (which by respect you actually mean allowing them to do anything they want), whilst they are the ones not showing any respect by doing the wrong thing in the first place.

Then fined him again
And then pinged him for swearing Wink

so why is it so hard for a decent person to ask someone to heed to the error of their ways.

fineing them just makes you a prick,  and not a decent person.

talking is the way, not punishment. doesn't solve anything.

learn some respect for people.

well that's a uncaring attitude isn't it doesn't solve the problem or help anyone out does it.

fine them rather then talk to them.

arrest someone rather then talk to them.

taiser or shoot them rather that talk to them.

doesn't create a friendly attitude does it.

No.

They have to earn that respect, by not putting their feet up on the seat on public transport.

Why is this so hard for you to understand?

Do you put your feet up on seats too?

He has already been told not to put his feet on the seat. Remember the picture of the sign on the last page? So since he knew not to do it but he did it anyway, why should he be told again?

That's why there is a fine. It is for those people who show no respect for the rules.

I would have:

1/ Asked the offender to remove his feet from the seat. Compliance = no further action.

2/ Non-compliance and/or an attitude, I would fine.

3/ If attitude/non-compliance continued, the offender would be removed from the train at the next stop.

I only once had to put a bloke (two, actually) off a train, but they were harassing/threatening other passengers, not
just breaching by-laws.

A decent adult would understand that it's not acceptable to put one's feet up on the seat when riding on public transport.

A decent adult would not need to have this explained to them.

As I said, no surprises in the OP then.

(By the way, I don't think you actually know what "ignorant" means.)

$180 for putting my foot on a seat on a train?????

From some fking wannabe cop called "Civic Compliance Officers"?

"Do you have anything to say for the record sir?"

"Yes. You're exactly the reason why this country is in the state it is. You're an absolute joke"

Fking good luck chasing me in Europe for this fine.

Fking police state joke of a country.

Foot on a seat???????!

!!!!!!!!

There are signs throughout the trains stating this is an offence. It is also simple courtesy. I sure don't want to sit on a seat that has muddy shoe prints on it. Too bad!

All Andrei had to do was say: "Sorry, I wasn't thinking," and take his feet down.

But, typically, he got smart mouthed and lippy and was fined.

Now he is going to skip the country without paying. That sums him up nicely.

He can't wait to go and we can't wait to get rid of him.

A young child?  Sure.  They probably don't know any better yet.

Hicks is an adult, and he tells us that he's a globe-trotting businessman (which I don't believe at all now, anyway).

If he doesn't know the "error of his ways" by now, he needs to learn a hard lesson.  I would have fined him, and then thrown him off the train.

What sort of adult puts their feet up on the seat?  Seriously?

Naaaa, gotta agree with Wazza here (and we don’t know the full/true story). Smiley

Nothing wrong with saying “look mate can you take your feet of the seat please” Wink

If they don’t comply then fines can come into it.

Seriously he hasnt said if he was asked and complied or didnt comply first. he wont admit he thought he was too good to do what he was asked.
