Tony Burke claims people smuggling trade "broken"
Sep 2nd, 2013 at 6:43pm

Anything for a headline in the final days of the campaign, eh Phoney Tony? Doesn't matter if it ain't true in the least, or that it's approaching the wet season up north...

Geez, aren't we lucky the lads from Labor have done all the heavy lifting on this one  Embarrassed and all that the coalition will have to do is tidy up the edges, complete the paper work and do the filing....NOT!

Nice of him to highlight the fact that Rudd07 totally dropped the ball and stuffed up on border protection 5 minutes from the election....

You could almost predict Labor claiming this now. They desperately need a good headline less than a week til the election. They know this is a big election issue and so they want to be able to say they solved it. What a farce! Grin Grin Grin

It is a rather pathetic claim even if it was true, so I broke something, lived in denial, suddenly realised how much of a cock up it was, then I spent over a year trying to fix it ????

Sounds like a crack whore making it through rehab.

Except the ALP has yet to make amends.

from 4200 one month to 1500 the next month .... yep, I'd say that it looks like it's working.

It was never going to stop everything suddenly. Numbers have been declining steadily and will continue to do so.

Even if it was true, its all a bit late.

They needed to get the numbers down to where Howard had them and achieve that about a year ago.

Just maybe you're attributing any reduction in illegals to the wrong person, don't you think these illegals and the people smugglers know that the  election is more than likely going to see a change?

No that was her drug dealing husband trying to convince her that he's changed from a drug addict to a sex addict....

Hilarious, I suppose the people hailing the reduction in asylum seeker numbers due to the actions of Tony Burke and the PNG "solution" are the same people who said that when Howards policy regime was dismantled that the sudden and dramatic rise in boat people had nothing to do wiv any change in govt policies and was just a coincidence and push factors?  Roll Eyes

Seriously, how do you morons reconcile your contradictory positions without twisting yourselves into pretzels of idiot confusion?  You must erect frigging firewalls between your ears.

Oh and PS still waiting protests on Parliament hill for the thousands dead, much more than Howard ever achieved and protesting policies harsher than anything Howard ever implemented.

The moral flexibility and convictions of convenience of the left sicken me.  Bunch of duplicitous clowns.

Only 1,585 asylum seekers arrived by boat in August, compared with 4,236 in July, when Rudd announced the PNG deal.
