Tony Abbott willing to break emissions pledge over funding hole

Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has confirmed categorically – for the first time – that he would break the Coalition's pledge on greenhouse reduction targets if it cost more money than he had budgeted for.

At last someone in politics with common sense.

Stuff world emissions. Ours are insignificant. Reducing 1.5% by even 20% is a drop in the ocean, absolutely and totally insignificant.

If it is so desperately important to reduce CO2 emissions then we'd be firing up nuke power stations across the country, as that is the quickest and most efficient way of reducing emissions of CO2.

Hamstringing our industries for a pie in the sky ideal and to feel good at chardonnay parties is idiot politics.

Deflection aye cods.

Abbott made a commitment the whole period he has been leader, to reduce carbon by 5%, and at the last moment before an election he sort of drops the promise.

Abbott is a liar and can not be trusted.

If he lied on this promise, what else has he lied on?

Well at least he had the balls to admit that his promise is conditional on budget constraints. Which Gillard did not. (which is the cause of most of the condemnation)

Yet the faster it happens the quicker cost of living pressures are lowered on household budgets.

And electricity is only a fraction of the equation. Abbott wanting to deny AGW means our food security is now in doubt.
