I hope for our sakes the Coalition cancels their NBN project then, because it is claiming all the benefits for a fraction of the cost.

Actually, it's two thirds of the cost. Nobody credible is pretending that the Coalition's plan will deliver any benefits.
Can Australia afford the Coalition’s NBN?

Nope, Tony told us his is half the price and just as good.

It can be 100% cheaper because as it turns out we dont need an NBN anyway.

did he announce how much it will cost a month in 2020 to have NBN???...

The experience of those lucky enough to have it is that the NBN generally delivers slightly better service at slightly lower cost. The main difference is the availability of vastly superior services, albeit at higher costs.

I seem to remember studies from the 1990s on that found otherwise. Still, you're the suppository of all knowledge.

Anyone out there seriously believe that Rudd can save them $3800? This from the bloke who gave us an extra 50,000 mouths to feed and a borrow from China of 100 million dollars a day..a 300 billion dollar blow out.

You believe RUDD, hope I don't die of a heart attack laughing, from the comments propping up that sad, fat little snake oil salesman. Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Nope, Tony said our NBN is better because its being ran by "the man who practically invented the internet in Australia".

Is that you Deathonadonkey? Will we still be here in 2020? Won't rising sea levels tend to damage all that fibre below ground level? Is the NBN waterproof?

Watching Turnbull's face whenever he has to promote the Coalition's turkey is hilarious.

Interesting point. Copper is far more vulnerable to water than fibre.

One impact of global warming is increased extreme weather events, including thunderstorms. Over the years, I've lost four land line 'phones to lightning. A ground strike induces an electromagnetic pulse. The pulse induces a current in any conductor buried in the ground, within a considerable distance of the strike. The current can travel many kilometres from its point of origin. People have died this way.

Fibre doesn't conduct electricity.

Not as hilarious as having a good look at the progress of the rollout of the NBN, how many years behind are we?

BY the time they get it finished there will be something new invented that doesn't involve cables, I'm thinking Wi Fi will be so superior in a decade that this cable thing will belong in a museum.

Just think about what computers were like ten years ago and now. The individual computer now is more powerful than all the computers combined that helped put a man on the moon.

And you don't think technology will outstrip the copper cable?.... Grin Grin Grin

Abbott's copper plan costs $29.5 billion

Rudd's optic fibre to the home plan costs $44 billion

How is 29.5 billion half of 44 billion?

Abbott's lan connects 22% of homes. Rudd's plan connects 93% of homes.

Abbott's plan = 3/4 of the price with less than 1/4 of the results.

Dumb!

If you are going to spend tens of billions of dollars of taxpayers money, i want to see some tangible benefit.

Abbott's plan costs tens of billions of dollars and delivers negligible benefit except for the wealthy who can spend the extra thousand of dollars it will cost to hook up to his system.
