he claims that if business pays its $70bn tax bill at the end of the year instead of forward  instalments every 3 months....then they could then spend that $70bn and the govt would gain the GST...and of course the market place would be better off all round...

now my question is...would not companies stop saving for their taxes if they were spending it as Palmers suggests... which in turn means the tax office losing a heck of a lot..

how can a business spend what he would normally pay the taxman.... and still save for the taxman...???? who will be waiting no matter what...

It's nonsense. A prudent business would not be spending this money. All that would be available to the business would be the interest earned or saved. This would be something closer to 2 billion dollars, not 70 billion dollars.

and would be offset by the fact that the govt would need to borrow money to run things during the year.  it is this kind of insanity which makes Palmer look like a total moron.

Clive gives conservative minded people an alternative as Abbott is not everyone's cup of right wing tea, in fact by any measure he is more socially progressive then Howard/Costello.

He seems to get away with being a nutter.

If the next evolution of his party moves on from this ...... he could easily double his voter base, especially if Abbott does not deflate the guy. I doubt Abbott would want to attack him slush fund style like he did to one nation. this guy does seem cashed up. the Libs may have a big problem with this party, also the nationals.

He will do exactly what One Nation did before him.  Arrive on the scene with a splash and then when people listen to the people they elected they will be appalled. They will lsee just how simple and ill-equipped they are for parliament and in 2016 the party will get 0.1% of the vote assuming Palmer hasn't gotten tired of it and thrown it all away - which is a strong possibility.

Can not really agree, Palmer is more $$$ smart and looks far more capable. I think their destiny lies in moving away from Clive the man to become a political party in itself.

led by whom? funded by whom?  PUP is nothing more than Clive's personal protest party which when he loses interest - as he will - will simply collapse.  It has no grassroots, no real organisation and no real raison d'etre.  it will be dead in 3 years - even less if it doesn't win any seats.

longweekend58

Yes right now it is, it needs to evolve, people will get bored with the nutter.

What does Clive Palmer stand for?

What are his policies?

Where are they?

Apart from 30 second inconclusive grabs I see nothing.

Come on Palmer supporters provide the links for the detailed Policies of Palmer, I want to see them...really want to see.

This bloke is blowing smoke up everyone's arse and 6% of you are buying it...laugh out loud Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Clive Palmer has the gift of the gab and his ads sound appealing, but you have to look deeper and read his policies.

Although he's sweetened the edges, his aim is to ramp up the quarrying of Australia.

There is plenty of self interest attached to his policies.

Quote:
Creating mineral wealth to continuously contribute to the welfare of the Australian community. This will be achieved by utilising mineral resources from Queensland and Western Australia, and incentives from the Commonwealth of Australia to establish downstream processing in the States of Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia; and exporting products at a higher dollar value, thereby creating more revenue, jobs, tax and more facilities

I'm giving Clive my vote tomorrow.

You've already voted, you say?

Yes, I have, but because voting is compulsory, I need to get my name crossed off at the booth, don't I?

Maybe I need to get crossed off at every booth in my electorate that has my name on the list????? never sure.....oh well!

ImSpartascus2  don't try and twist it into something else. I have never, repeat never, seen a single poster on this site do what you did.

All I'm asking you to do is follow the rules.

You have made it appear it said those words about Abbott. Criticise me all you like but don't VERBAL me, it's not on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On reflection I agree that I should not have done that not because of your exaggerated claim that it appeared that you said those words but because, as a matter of principle, one ought not to do it.  So please accept my apology. I can only say in my defense that I was exuberant last night, exuberant.

Arthur Sinodinos is on the verge of being the federal finance minister if the Coalition wins the election. But a bizarre set of preference swaps could see him defeated first by Pauline Hanson.

Senate preference tickets lodged with the Australian Electoral Commission show that virtually every small right-of-centre party is directing preferences to the One Nation leader ahead of Senator Sinodinos - who sits third on the Coalition ticket.

In 2004, when Ms Hanson ran for the Senate in Queensland, she won 4.5 per cent of the vote. Trial runs by Fairfax Media using ABC election analyst Anthony Green's online Senate calculator suggest that if she wins just half of that this time, 2.25 per cent, she is on track to take Senator Sinodinos' seat.

Voter Liberal or Labor, leave the rest of them on the shelf, particularly the Greens, the loonies have taken over the asylum in that Party.

I don't care whether you complained or not and the fact that you sought to characterise my apology as something I did to avoid your complaint shows just how despicably you people behave always down in the gutter, never pausing to pull some dirty trick and always the first to whinge when you get some of your own back.  I apologised because I thought as matter of principle it was the right thing to do.  Something you wouldn't understand.

I'll be giving my primary vote to
the GREENS
, for the first time
( ... I think ? - but I'm trying to recall 25, odd, elections here) in the lower house - with a second to LABOR

My SENATE vote will go to
the GREENS
( ... below the line) with a second to LABOR

The GREENS are the ONLY party with a renewable energy policy I can agree with  RELATE TO

The ALP go HALF-WAY

The LibNats have no renewable energy policy at ALL
