Abo To Lead Labor
Sep 7th, 2013 at 10:04pm

Sources in Labor said Abo is favourite for leadership.

Could be a smart move so to bring Labor back to the Greens.

I am tipping Shorten

When Shorten betrayed Gillard - the deal would have been

(1) I'll support you over Gillard
(2) If you lose - you quit and I'll be leader

Wong would be a good choice.

They could do a lot worse.

Wong's in the Senate. The leader has to be a member of the House.

Well, that cruels that idea.

Don't know who else I'd choose.

Not Shorten, and not Plibersek, that's for sure.

Doug Cameron - his accent would remind voters of the union roots of Labor.

It's much harder for the Leader of the Opposition to ask questions of the Prime Minister in Question Time if the LOTO is in the Senate. The Prime Minister is always a member of the House, to the extent that Senators that become PM must resign from the Senate and be elected to the House in a by-election. Example: Gorton in 1968.

We can nominate good Senators, but it is likely that the LOTO will be a member of the House, so we should look there first.

I don't disagree with that, but the fact remains that if they wanted a senator as leader of the party they can do it.

Newman was leader of the opposition and he wasn't even a member of parliament yet.
