Howard's Chief Fails In Senate Seat (Likely)
Sep 8th, 2013 at 12:09am

With nearly 2/3 of the votes counted in NSW it looks like the Liberals might not pick up a 3rd seat there. That mean Howard's former chief of staff, Arthur Sinodinos, wouldn't be elected.

Didn't see this earlier, but looks like he might pick up the 6th senate seat in NSW according to latest counts - still some way to go though.

It looks like Sinodinos and Hanson will get in, and the Greens won't. Could this night get any better?

I doubt that Hanson will be elected. There are only two spots that are open after the first four are likely to go to the Coalition and Labor. The Liberal Democrats have almost clinched the fifth seat. That leaves one seat for Sinodinos and the rest to fight over.

How would Hanson get along with Abbott anyway? Wasn't it Abbott who put her in prison?

The permutations are interesting. Preferences flowing this way and that way. The final makeup will be interesting. If Hanson gets up she will have the last laugh because the Lib-NP and ALP tried to thwart her attempts to enter parliament. She may cost those parties a seat. Time will tell.

The ALP, the progressive party, the party of ideas, the workers' friend, is the only Australian political party to roast four young Australians in roof cavities. SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!

Anthony Green thought it was unlikely. I'm hoping he gets up if that was the intention of the voters.
