Hey Verge, I'm asking you this because I gather you are in Mirabella's electorate.  I read something today that said that when Rudd delivered the sorry speech SM went about her electorate calling out to indigenous constituents "Not Sorry". Sounds extraordinary that someone would do such a thing.  Have you ever heard of anything like that happening.  Not very nice if it did, IMO

She didn't sit in Parliament because she said that were no official "stolen" children, IIRC.

If I were a politician at the time, there's no way that I would have sat in there either.

Why wouldn't you have sat there.  Does your hatred really run that deep?

There are worse people in the world than Mirabella and many of them are in the Liberal party.

I wish her well she is probably better off out of politics anyway - she wasn't very good at it.

No, I just don't believe that the 'stolen' generation was necessarily a bad thing, nor am I sorry for something that I didn't do.

The Liberals have Cory "Gone Burkas" Bernardi, and Arthur "Children Overboard" Sinodinos. They have Mal Brough who was involved in the Slipper affair. Then there is the leader, Tony Abbott, who has been described as sexist, racist, xenophobic religious nutter, who had Pauline Hanson thrown in jail.

Yes, some real grubs in the Liberal Party.

They must be grateful that mate of corrupt coppers and heroin dealers failed to get elected in this election.

They will probably also be sighs of relief if Mirabella loses her seat - who would want to work with her?

No offense to Mrs McGowan, but if she does win, it just goes to show what a farce our system is. The fact that someone can get in with 32% of the vote, over someone with 45%, is ludicrous.

Not really. Most people who didn't vote for either candidate preferred McGowan to Mirabella with a margin of about 19% to 4%.

Mirabella was a piece of filth and she got what she deserved. If the Liberals had fielded a better candidate they would have won.

Perhaps if she changed her last name to Bracks, then put a "s" on the end of Mr - she could take his ex job in New York.  She must be a front row contender and it will save having to rebook the tickets  Grin Grin Grin Grin

Only you and Mirrabella could be so arrogant and self indulgent to make such a matter more about you than as a matter the leaders of Australia making an attempt to right the wrongs of the past.

Thankfully Im across the River from her.  I was disgusted when she did that.  What kind of person goes about deliberatley trying to divide the people on such an issue by being so against it.  Nice way to get the indigenious people on side.  I was also offended when at the next address she goes on in her welcome speech to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land in Wangratta.  I couldnt believe the hypocracy of this woman.  What a dog.

Her representation of Indi and the respect she had for them was best displayed when she cast her vote for the Carbon tax, something the people of Indi were heavily opposed to.

No, she didn't. She was excluded from Parliament, and as such, couldn't vote either way.

Exactly.  She showed at that very time the respect she had for her own electorate.  She couldnt shut her mouth running off, and got herself booted out when the most important vote of some time was happening.

The people of Indi had no voice in the parliament that day because of her actions.

Are you a parent?  I just cant believe that you could be a parent to say something so selfish, detached and cruel as that.  As far back as 1915 a Victorian Parliamentarian described what was happening as "children being stolen" because children were being taken from their parents without any evidence that they were in need or being  mistreated.  Justice Wilson, formally of the High court, investigated this whole thing and when he wrote his report saw fit to include the word "Stolen" in the title of his report because he thought it accurately described what had happened.  And after all that and the untold misery that people suffered having their families being torn apart, all you can think of was that it wasn't you so why should you say sorry.  Its all about "me" with Liberals.  How can you build a community with people who are all about "ME"
