Offering rewards to Indonesians for info

Labor and Greens have criticised one of the LIBs multi-pronged approach to stopping the boats - in particular using money for purchasing boats and offering reward for information

Bottom line is money is used as a deterrent and/or information gathering

Governments from all around the world have used these tactics very successfully - FBI, CIA, MI6 etc

Of course Labor has to come out and exaggerate it as Australia supporting Indonesia's ship building industry

I dislike leftards' tactic of demonising because they have nothing better to say and at every opportunity I shove the humble pie up your nose

A couple of major flaws which should be glaringly obvious about this scheme and which Abbott should have known. 1. Indonesia is in the midst of a massive government driven national anti corruption campaign, there is no way the Indos are going to accept Australia effectively offering bribes for information at this time.  Abbott has shown his ignorance on foreign policy by not doing basic research first. 2. It is so easily manipulated its not funny, do you actually think that the Indos arent all of a sudden going find every old junk they can find that can barely float and pretend its a people smuggling vessel in exchange for reward money? This scheme is naive and simply put, stupid for its original purpose. I do however support it as a way of giving Indonesians foreign aid.
