"God bless America!"   Is a common exhortation from American politicians.  An appeal to their Christian god.  They bless their troops.  They have Christian priests accompany them into battle.   They extol Christianity at every opportunity.   They are Crusaders!   Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin

Badbreath should read Crusade by Rick Atkison or the autobiography of Stormin Norman and he might get a clue on the degrees to which the US and Coalition forces went to accommodate Muslim sensibilities and how Muslim countries were included in the coalition to oust Saddam.

He might learn that it was not a war of religious domination despite his idiot attempts to link it to the Crusades, the fallback of every card carrying lefty numpty.

But that would mean a bit of learning and less spouting of ignorant slogans.

Ahhh geeze another good read would be Bible and Sword by Tuchman.  But the idiot aint interested in learning, so invested is he in the indoctrination by his equally idiotic brother.

On a visit to Athens in 2001 the Pope asked God's forgiveness for Catholics, who he said had committed sins against Orthodox Christians for 1,000 years. He has also apologised to Muslims for the Crusades.

Why would you expect today's Christians to apologize for something they'd consider barbarians did to each other almost 2000 years ago? Jnr?????  Cheesy

Unlike you, I actually went looking for the direct apology for the Crusades which that pope supposedly uttered and the only one which I could find which specifically named the Crusades was an apology for the Sack of Constantinople.   That Pope did utter a general apology for the wrongdoings of Christians in the past but not specifically for the Crusades as such.

Perhaps you need to look deeper rather than just merely accepting what Left-Wing newspapers tell you?   Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy

I was sure I posted this already but it seems to have disappeared so here we go again.

You claimed here that Brian has a "He has a hard won reputation as an apologist for the indefensible.", yet you admitted when I asked if you had any evidence of him actually condoning any Islamic atrocities here, that you had none, here, so therefore you must have lied when you claimed he was an "apologist for the indefensible"

Of course, you might just be contradicting yourself instead but of course we know you never engage in such antics, now don't we?  You're Mr.Perfect...  Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy

Bit hard to post a link to something that wasn't said, now isn't?  How about instead you post a direct link to the sermon/speech the Pope gave where he did Apologise directly for the Crusades?  You're the one claiming it happened afterall.  Otherwise I might be tempted to call you a liar!   Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy

Pope Benedict has expressed his 'shame' that violence has been used in the name of Christianity as he condemned terrorism in God's name.

The Pope had spoken in front of 300 religious leaders from around the world, during which he asked forgiveness for the church's use of violence in the past.

Describing violence in the name of religion as 'an abuse of the Christian faith', Pope Benedict's address was one of the few times he has apologised for events such as the Crusades or the use of force to spread the faith in the New World.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2054484/Pope-Benedict-apologises-Christian-violence-ages-condemning-terrorism-religion.html

Quote:
JIM BITTERMANN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Miles, Pope John Paul II put it this way, "We forgive and we ask forgiveness." And with that, he led church leaders and followers in sweeping confession, seeking repentance for sins that may have been committed over the past 2,000 years in the name of the church.

They fell into seven general categories of wrongs which include, without being too specific, everything from the Crusades to the Inquisition, the forced conversions, to sins against women and anti- Jewish acts. It was a first for the church, which has only rarely and only in specific instances confessed errors in the past. The pope's sermon offered an explanation for today's day of pardon.

There are many links to articles about John Paul II apologising too Jnr...  now you can dismiss them all or I suspect go to the Vatican and get a copy.

oh and Jnr...

Indirect references don't cut it.  Show us what he actually said.  Sounds to me like he was being rather spineless by not directly apologising, don't you think?   Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy
