I concede that there may be two or more Muslims who share your interpretation of Islam.

There is no way you made this all up yourself.

Sorry, I got sidetracked. What is your opinion on Brian's spineless apologetics?

Quote:
I make no excuses for those nations and their laws, BV.  I merely recognise that it is their right to create and unfortunately impose those punishments.   It is terrible but I also recognise I have no right or ability to criticise them.  I am neither a member of their religion or a citizen of any of those nations.

Does it have your vote as the most spineless apologetic thing ever posted on this forum?

I believe there's about 10 pages in this very thread talking about gandalf's view of that quote.

I just know you'll dig it up... so fire away.

Yes, G, but FD’s just asking questions. Shurely he should be free to do that.

Maybe he forgot your answer and doesn’t want to read ten pages of posts - have you considered that?

Now, it would be nice if you could just answer FD’s question and we can start again.

There is, and you appear to be contradicting yourself on it in response to Brian posting the exact opposite view in a different context (when it is time to speak out against non-Muslims).

If Brian is indeed saying that non-muslim countries' laws and practices must be condemned by outsiders, then yes that would be hypocritical. Not sure what specific statement(s) you are referring to though.

Gandalf are you trying to say you see these two statements as entirely consistent?

Brian Ross wrote on Jul 19th, 2014 at 12:40am:
Quote:
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for the Muslims, and I did not speak out-
Because I was not a Muslim.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

You are a sick, intolerant person who expresses bigotry towards Muslims.

As John Stuart Mill suggested, "Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing."  I refuse to look on, Sprint and I will resist you and your ilk as much as I am able to.

And as I said, Brian was objecting to a call for introducing some fascist elements into Australia - ie his own country. The previous quote is about what he thinks about what other countries do.

So presumably he thinks its his right to stand up against fascism in his own country, but not his right to stand up against it in other countries. Thats a morally consistent point of view (and not the least bit uncommon) - regardless of whether or not you agree with it.

So no, its not hypocritical.

I challenge you to find a single other person on this forum who shares Brian's spineless apologetics.
