The coalition voted down work choices because they didn't want to be wedded to such an unpopular policy. Labor won't vote down the ETS because they don't want to be wedded to such an act of bastardry.

This act of economic and environmental vandalism will destroy the Liberal party. When the reality of global warming hits, those responsible for delaying action will be held accountable by the public.

what a pitiful childish post.  You seem to think that the Opposition shouldn't oppose.

And yet now Labor are in opposition they have to agree with Abbott.

only on the carbon tax.  it was the policy the people rejected and THAT is why they should support its repeal just as the Libs supported the repeal of WorkChoices.

The Liberals didn't support the repeal of workchoices and believe it or not the 2007 election was about workchoices where the 2013 election was not about the carbon price.

as usual, you are wrong.  the lib senators voted for the repeal without which it would have failed.  and the 2013 WAS about the CT.

but ultimately, losers, the CT will be repealed with or without your votes.

We must have all seen the ads on TV by now where he's spruiking his 7 point contract with Australia. Just to name 2 of them:

Two million new jobs
Reduce bottlenecks - roads

Which begs the question - If he fails to deliver on any of his 7 points (especially the above 2 which have to be the most unlikely for him to achieve), does that mean we the Australian people can launch a class action against him for breach of contract?  Roll Eyes

I have to admit.. he is such a turn off I dont bother to listen
...after 6 years. of basically nothing turning out as they claim it will... I have given up taking any notice of them..... how many times did we hear... a surplus its coming we promise no ifs or buts...

annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd........nothing.but debt..

Cods,
It seems you may well have stopped listening & watching?

I think you will find the TV ad  being referred to,
IS A LIBERAL TV ADVERT, FRONTED BY TONY ABBOTT!

I think it also mentions -
A Stronger Economy
Carbon Tax gone
Ending Waste & Debt
Stopping the boats

Oh & btw, IT IS VERY LIKELY THAT NONE OF THOSE THINGS, perhaps with the exception of the axing of the Carbon Tax, WILL ACTUALLY HAPPEN, mainly because the Macro Global Economic Drivers will not allow them to happen!

Which also means, they also wouldn't happen, if Labor were to be voted back into office, which is also not likely!

I have re-posted the above, because it is relevant to this thread.

That said, I was a little short on the FUll list of the Coalitions "Contract" with Australia, which according to them is actually -
1) A STRONGER 5 Pillar Economy
2) Two Million new jobs
3) Scrap the Carbon Tax
4) End the waste
5) Reduce Bottlenecks on Roads
6) Give the Community control - over Education & Health Services
7) Stop the Boats

In reality, for many reasons, there is no chance they will succeed with numbers 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 & 7 of that "Contract" and neither would Labor, IF they had retained power!

Number 3 is not completely impossible, although it may be more difficult than the Liberals think & could put the Public through the purgatory of another election in the not too distant future. That said, even if it is scrapped, it will do very little to improve our situation.

or... when NONE of the hysterical predictions eventuate - and none have even come close yet - there will be blood and anger at the clowns and fools that promoted this nonsense.  And it will keep Labor out of power for a generation.

what time is your boat leaving MOTR...???   theres a few sore losers on here you can take with you...

dont forget he went to the election on his CARBON TAX policy a bit more than can be said for SOME Cheesy

and he WON SOUNDLY..so suck it up

Did the Reich suck it up when they lost in 2007? 2010? How many different ways did the Reich misogynists come up with for
KILLING
Gillard?

Abbott and his whole front bench are walking around with targets on their foreheads. Abbott should be put in a chaff bag and dumped at sea....

How long did the Reich astroturfers go around with the "DITCH THE B1TCH" signs? How long did the Reich go around with the "JULIAR" crap? Gillard's been out of office for a few months now, and they're still at it.

Now you want left-leaning members of Australian society to "suck it up"? That is not likely so get used to it.

what a pitiful childish post.

Showing you some facts is not childish. Unless you have a problem with some of the examples, ALL of which are based on actual Reich actions against Gillard. Don't like them being recast against Abbott instead just to make a point? Tough. Abbott himself did the "targets on foreheads" crap and Alan Jones did chaff bags, several times. You still have a problem with it? Tell it to the ones that originated this kind of rubbish.

False. You're the one that thinks this, not me, considering the crap you've been spewing about mandates.

You seem to think (wrongly) that Gillards position as PM was not highly compromised since she had less votes and less seats than the opposition.

How can you be so clueless about the workings of a Westminster parliament to post crap like this? Gillard was Prime Minister because she had the confidence of the House. I doubt you would understand what this means even if someone explained it to you 100 times. I'm pretty sure others have already.

Again, no. How do you manage to come up with this rubbish from what I posted above?

I'll comment on your list of Coalition "policies".

Meaningless waffle without a more detailed explanation. "5 pillar economy" is suspiciously like one of the Coalition's catch phrases that they often use.
Quote:
2) Two Million new jobs

How many of them will be permanent full-time jobs? Not many. How long will this take? A decade or more, by which time Abbott will be out of office.
Quote:
3) Scrap the Carbon Tax

An aspiration they may achieve but it will expose their lies.
Quote:
4) End the waste

This won't happen. This is just a three-word slogan without a real plan. They will create their own waste. "Direct action". "Women of calibre".
Quote:
5) Reduce Bottlenecks on Roads

They won't achieve this, and they are not investing in public transport. Already they have cancelled investments in public transport for no good reason. Expect more crowded trains.
Quote:
6) Give the Community control - over Education & Health Services

An idea worth debating rather than being imposed by fiat.
Quote:
7) Stop the Boats

Won't happen.

What a great idea. Just the saving on the hot air ,that this bunch of b.s. artists generate, is enough reward in itself. Just another bureaucratic monolith that is bloody useless. Good riddance to a burden on the taxpayer. Smiley

It's time to grab your hanky, dry your eyes, and finally accept Labor's worst defeat in 100 years.
And accept Abbotts right to carry out the policies he was elected to do by the vast majority of the electorate.
It's time to let it go.
