Which is why 100% tax on net profit is not such a silly idea. It could encourage investment over profiteering.

It's not a silly idea, it's a ludicrous idea.
Can you substantiate that or is it just offensive to you faith?

100% tax on profits?  so your idea is that business will operate at its own cost and own risk and any profits they make will all go to govt?  Well there is a policy designed to destroy the economy overnight.  Every international business will close up overnight and the locals wont be far behind.

that has to be the stupidest idea floated here in a really long time.

Higher business taxation would facilitate lower personal taxation. Perhaps eliminating personal taxes, and the costs associated with collecting them, entirely. Collecting taxes from fewer entities just has to be a money-saver, now doesn't it?

LOL... you have to be trolling surely.  no one could possibly be this stupid.  Higher business taxes would in fact lower personal taxation by massively reducing employment.

Let's look at the NBN and its price tag of around $60 Billion these days.

YOU think my suggestion that the 200,000 petitioners should pay for the NBN is inequitable?

I reckon it's as equitable as expecting those who campaign for water reticulation, sewerage, roads, etc. to pay for what is, after all, public infrastructure.
Swagman wrote on Sep 17th, 2013 at 3:27pm:
Using the above stats (Source;  ATO)

$60,000,000,000  - Price tag of NBN

Who will be paying for the NBN now?

9% of people are paying for 49% of it. ($29 Billion)

40% of people are paying for 90% of it ($54 Billion)

25% (ONE QUARTER) of people pay
ZERO

You think this is equitable?

If those who can afford most end up paying most, then yes. Remember, this is a public good, not private property.

FTTN is a public good.  FTTH is a public indulgence to be paid for by people other than you.

No it isn't.  Equitable has a more complex definition and since it is based on the term EQUAL that is your clue.

If you bother to find out what you're getting yourself into, you'll realise that it isn't my idea. Check the history; I've made it quite clear that I'm playing Devil's Advocate with an idea raised by another poster.

Is making a fool of yourself some kind of perverse hobby?

and in todays lesson you learn that I do not read every post made to this forum or even close.  But it is you making the claim which you are now obviously backing away from after realising it was the epically stupid idea it is.

It's offensive to my faith.
And hard to see why anyone would risk anything if there is no profit possibility.

But mainly, offensive to my faith.

And will be obsolete when they finally finish it, if they do, at some later (much much later) date.

You can't substantiate that assertion, can you? Are you longweekend58?

From your responses #......errr.....for arguments sake lets say #2.....because you seem to be full of it, and basically just pose inane questions on most of your responses.

No, I'm not LW old boy......

Well to answer this "question", at the rate the cost for this supa-dupa multi-billion dollar labor white elephant has blown out, and judging from the length of time the experts give it to "completion"......yes I would have to say it will be obsolete .......and that's what far more knowledgable individuals than you or I say......does that substantiate it enough old boy......but you do realise that I am not a clairvoyant and neither are you, I just go by logic!
