Three federal public service chiefs have been axed
Sep 18th, 2013 at 7:17pm

Three federal public service chiefs have been axed and two appointed within minutes of the new Abbott coalition government being sworn in.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott and his Liberal-Nationals ministry were officially sworn in at Government House on Wednesday, 11 days after their election win over Labor.

Mr Abbott's first announcement was the sacking of three department secretaries - Andrew Metcalfe at Agriculture, Blair Comley at Resources and Energy and Don Russell at Innovation, Industry, Science and Research.

Treasury secretary Martin Parkinson advised Treasurer Joe Hockey he would stand down, but agreed to stay in the position until mid-2014 and will talk to the government about a future post.

Two new department secretaries have been appointed.

Dr Gordon de Brouwer will head up the Department of the Environment and Renee Leon will lead the Department of Employment.

well done Tony... lets get rid of this dead wood...

more useless public servants need to be sacked... from the top down...

i'd be starting with those useless bastards in Treasury...  Angry

It seems hardly another day goes by without more outrageous waste of hard-earned taxpayer dollars by our Federal Government.

This one though, is even worse than most. News Limited has revealed that the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science Research and Tertiary Education has spent  $75,000 on buying and installing just five high end coffee machines for its Canberra office.

You read that correctly. $75,000 on just five coffee machines. And that’s not all: “Just weeks after Labor handed down its May budget promising spending cuts and budget “restraint”, the same department also spent a further $45,000 on a two year deal to service and maintain coffee machines at a separate Canberra office.”

At least they did better than the new Carbon Cop, who paid $20,000 on eight Nespresso machines.

So there you have it. High taxes are needed so our bureaucrats can sip the finest quality Columbian non-fat soy caramel machiato lattes with cinnamon that money can buy.

Please NOTE....

one of the department heads that Tony sacked was the same department that was buying $15,000 coffee machines...

well done !!!!
