You bought the lie.

The boats have not stopped at all. We're just being made to THINK they've stopped coming because the new government will not tell us about boat arrivals.

Only a religious person could believe the boats have stopped after reading the op. Faith. Its called "faith".

Well then, post me up one instance where a boat has arrived in the last week. I don't  believe in this  media blackout rubbish.

Example #1 of this policy having the desired effect.

I'll assume the immigration department, UN bodies etc will still have official statistics.

If that is the case i don't see why the goverment should issue press releases to the media.

But it smacks of a lack of transperancy.

Prove to me, using statistics from a reliable source, that no boats have arrived since the Government has been sworn in. Oh, wait, you can't. That information is not being released to the public because that is now a state secret.

Your belief is not necessary. It is happening. It is real.
Quote:
The ABC asked both Customs and the Immigration Department whether any boats have arrived in recent days, but the questions were referred back to the Minister's office.

A spokesman for the Immigration Minister Scott Morrison would not say if any boats had arrived.

Not surprised at all at Labors whining over this issue, considering it is one of their own making because of their gross incompetence.
And I'm not surprised at all at the high shrill squealing of the left either.
What happened to Wikileaks?
It matters little what Abbott does, the left will squeal regardless of any outcome.
Those knobs will just have to wait just like the rest of us until Abbott has gotten through the changes that he wants to make to actually stop the boats.

of course it does, Abbott spent years just yelling out slogans and now look where he is!

Yes, it's amazing what an incompetent labor government can do for an opposition leader like Abbott.
Labor and the Greens couldn't pass the bullets across for Tone's gun fast enough. Grin

More amazing what the full unconditional support of a tabloid empire can do for a dishonest incompetent leaderless opposition.

Information on a need to know basis. Good move, Mr Abbott.

Those announcements about boat arrivals do nothing more than provide fodder for the media on slow news days and serve no constructive purpose other than to rile the overly excitable in the community.

And announcing them every time got him elected - now he doesnt need it anymore.

I have deep concerns over a new government who wont release information that has been readily available for decades, that same information they have used to attack their opponents with such aggression.

The Coalition made this a big pre-election issue, they have no moral right to now try and bury it.
