Tony isn't going to put up with this meritocracy sh1t where people and boards just don't perform...

the CEO saw the writing on the wall a few months back and ran for it...

after recent sackings of useless Public Sector senior Bosses who have failed the Australian people I guess the rest of this useless lot have seen the writing on the wall and have decided to jump...

well good riddance to the worthless losers...

Well done Tony... (insert clapping emoticon)

It happened almost by accident. A Yank who didn't understand that Australia isn't the US tried to thwart the government. The government responded with a plan to build over monopoly assets for which the Yank was responsible, rendering them worthless. As a shareholder, I was right royally pissed off (with Trujillo).

For a brief moment, Australia had the promise of world-class infrastructure.

Funny thing, according to media reports the only director likely to be retained is Kerry Schott.
She appears to be the only one with visible Labor connections.
But nobody knows yet what the cabinet will do with the "offered" resignations.

NBN board slurs 'disgraceful': Albanese

Date
    September 23, 2013

Opposition communications spokesman Anthony Albanese says news that all but one of NBN Co’s directors have offered to resign is an indication the Coalition has already started ‘‘wrecking’’ the National Broadband Network.      Sad

‘‘Mr Turnbull’s ongoing slurs on the professionalism and competence of the NBN Co board have been disgraceful,’’ Mr Albanese said.

‘‘NBN Co’s board members are directing the rollout of Australia’s largest ever infrastructure project and deserve support, not denigration. It is clear that the Coalition is determined to forge ahead with its plan to wreck the NBN, putting in its place a second rate network that relies on last century’s copper.’’      Sad

Mr Albanese called on Mr Turnbull to confirm whether the board has offered its resignation en masse and whether he will accept it or reject it, but the new Communications Minister has not yet made any public comments about the board’s move.

Meanwhile, Telstra has confirmed it has started testing fibre-to-the-node and vectoring technologies at a secret location on its network.

The tests were being conducted with equipment provider Alcatel-Lucent, which has been one of Telstra’s suppliers for many years and has been involved in several FTTN roll outs in Europe.

The NBN is massively behind (only meeting 20% of targets) and with huge budget blowouts and contractors abandoning ship over payments.

They are resigning to avoid being sacked.

Turnbull demanded their resignation. That was a courtesy, otherwise he would have sacked the high earning (said loosely) taxpayer funded muppets.

Now that the world has progressed away from FTTN they are looking to make a buck from the old technology in third world and back lot places.

It is understood the NBN rollout will fall significantly short of its target set in August last year to run fibre past 1.31 million premises by the end of this financial year. The number of existing premises to be passed is now believed to be as low as 600,000.

Thats 45.8% of targets, not 20%.

I have heard it reported as FAR lower.  and the 600,000 remains an estimate and we know how dodgy some of those NBN figures have been in the past.

It met its target of 207,000 back in June though.

the targes keep getting reduced and they still keep missing it by a mile.  This is what I mean to the bozos that seem to think that australias largest ever infrastructure project could ever finish on time and on budget.  They are already way of budget and way under-delivering.  AS if anyone expected anything different!
