Abbott reminds me of Putin - silencing protest, gagging of negative news, macho stunts for photo ops.

Well that didn't take long. So much for freedom of speech. Doesn't anyone adhere to principles anymore?

...

See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil hey and all the evil will go away?

Well, it hasn't yet worked that way, so far & I don't think it is about to start working now!

The right to free speech is basic to our democracy & just because we don't agree with the perspective of someone else, it doesn't give us the right to remove their right to "free speech", unless they deliberately tell porkies.

Of course, if we jailed everyone for telling Porkies, then every Politician would be in jail!

I predicted this type of thing. I remember driving around to various polling stations warning people about the repercussions of voting for the Lib-NP mob. But you know how it is...press a voting slip into the hands of some people and they go crazy. Who knows what's next.

The ALP, the progressive party, the party of ideas, the workers' friend, is the only Australian political party to roast four young Australians in roof cavities. SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!

I'm glad, phoney tony will be a one term government if his first week in power is anything to go by. People are already thinking " what the bugger did I do". They deserve everything they get, I hope the pricks that voted for this prick lose their jobs first.

From the above link ...

The Federal Government's moving to clamp down on environmental groups who lobby for company boycotts overseas.

That has been welcomed by forest workers in Tasmania who accuse green groups of spreading half-truths in key markets like Japan.

It's encouraging to see that Abbott is supporting (and is being supported by) forest workers. About time workers got a break. Good on you Abbott Smiley

this is how Abbott well get to be even more popular - by standing up for workers and business against the bully-boys from the greens and labor.  It is exciting watching our economy start to move again.

The "iron law of oligarchy" states that all forms of organization, regardless of how democratic they may be at the start, will eventually and inevitably develop oligarchic tendencies, thus making true democracy practically and theoretically impossible, especially in large groups and complex organizations. The relative structural fluidity in a small-scale democracy succumbs to "social viscosity" in a large-scale organization. According to the "iron law," democracy and large-scale organization are incompatible.

Abbott wants to govern for the multinationals by squashing democracy.

The more he loses touch with the majority the more he cements his own fall.
