It's already happening. On the 407 Canada Bay to Wynyard bus (limited stops) just the other day a woman gave birth at the Ryan Street stop. The bus had to wait while a passenger who held a first aid certificate slapped the infant and we heard the familiar vagitus. Under the new Abbott "up yours" policy the driver insisted that the mother pay another fare for the new born infant.

It's happening already.

I don't think that Abbott would do that.

Abbott is more of a social extremist than an economic extremist. As we can see with his comments about women, and his banning as health minister of RU486 .

But the story about Mexican healthcare is a good reminder of what those on the far right would put Australia through if they could.

Malcolm Fraser destroyed public healthcare in this country when he scrapped Medibank and Tony Abbott would again reduce the working poor to being healthcare beggers if he has half a chance.
His policies of jailing protesters and wrecking manufacturing shows that he cares not one jot for the Aussie people so there should be no doubt that he would ban the working poor from the hospital system and basic healthcare.

It needed help 15 years ago, but was ignored in favour of cheap imported goods.

Actually more than likely the biggest damage was done by whitlam and grassby.
They embraced the lima declaration as if it was a treaty and so our manufacturing started vanishing offshore.

Yes but salad in you're only telling half the story, the only reason the mother had to pay another ticket was because she gave birth to a girl. Under tonys up yours policy, all white male newborns ride free.
