Shouldn't a robust alleged religion like Islam be able to withstand scrutiny? You forgot to toss in Islamphobia and racism.

Why?  Racism is incorrect.  Bigotry is the correct word.  Muslims can be any race.

As to it's ability to withstand scrutiny, I'm sure the religion can but it's adherents I don't doubt get rather fed up with being hammered and their every belief questioned in what is more often than not the most insulting manner by ignoramuses and bigots who refuse to accept their answers as valid.

Your attitudes are creating a self-fulfilling prophecy.  You're afraid of the alienated Muslim loonies yet you set out to create more with your bigotry and Islamophobia.  You should be glad, you'll get your wish!   Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin

Here is but one of the many references to the term racism when connected to Islam:

Quote:
Europe's Anti-Muslim Racism

The specter of racism leers menacingly over Western Europe today. More and more Europeans are reacting to Europe's changing racial profile in ever more illiberal ways, typically under the guise of lawful legislative intervention. Recently voters in Switzerland declared an injunction against all new construction of minarets - architecturally distinct towers adjoining mosques - demonstrating widespread contempt for that country's small Muslim community. In Italy, a Muslim woman wearing the niqab (a garment that covers the face) was fined over six hundred dollars for exercising her right to dress in a manner she believes is appropriate. Belgium also recently embarked on the road to illegalize and stigmatize the burka and niqab with a vote in the Brussels federal parliament. That move mirrors similar ongoing efforts in France.

[...]

Don't let the team down. There has been a campaign to link anit-Islam sentiment with racism.

There are plenty more articles about racism and Islam but I don't need to flood OP with them.

You're afraid of the alienated Muslim loonies yet you set out to create more with your bigotry and Islamophobia.  You should be glad, you'll get your wish!

You forget one salient point: I can hide all my bigotry, hatred, vile views, phobias, anti-Christian views, etc behind my religion just like a muslim does. That makes it OK doesn't it? We do accept people into Australia with vile views so it must be OK.

Comparable movements in other religions are Zionism, "Political Christianity" and Hinduism or "Hindu Chauvinism".  All are the political aspirations of the religion.  Islamism is not unique.

What other religions were founded by by a (warmongering) political leader and make the state part of the religion?

Quote:
So, you'd have real problems coping with Communism then?  What about the dictatorships which brook no criticism of their leader and their political movements?  Again, the Islamic Republic of Iran is not unique in this regard yet your bigotry ensures you single it out because of it's religious basis.

So we need not fear Islam because it is like a communist dictatorship?

Well, to answer the second question, I'd suggest all religions were part of the State until quite recently.  In some places it is still very closely tied to the State such as in Latin and South America and parts of Africa.  Of course, that's Christianity not Islam.  Many Christians in the USA want to remove the divide of State and Church, while in the UK, it's never disappeared.   In India, the BJP political party wants to do similar things with Hinduism, FD.

As to the first, it is more difficult I admit.  However, I'd suggest the bloody history of most religions cannot be overlooked.  It is invariably the followers who wage holy wars, rather than the founders.

Don't disown racism now. Great effort has been put into making racism part of the milieu of a muslim. It goes hand-in-hand with bigotry, xenophobia, hate speech, Islamphobia, and other unpleasantries sure to discommode muslim susceptibilities. I know I don't like it when New Age Muslims are the subject of hate speech and other vileness. I feel like beheading someone.

Just to clarify, did you quote my first question and respond by answering the second? Have you forgotten how to copy and paste?

So, not answer to the actual question then? We must ignore all the violent and cruel aspects of Islam that were demonstrated by Muhammed himself and written into the Koran, while at the same time projecting onto other religions whatever you can associate with them throughout history?

Quote:

Except of course for Islam, where Muslims have forever tried and failed to live up to Muhammed's bloody, cum drenched example.

Capitalism?

Gee thanks Winston. I'd forgotten about all those classical economists who liked to rape and pillage in their spare time. Did you know that Capitalism was actually promoted as an antidote to the sort of warmongering promoted by Muhammed, and is largely responsible for the end of the age of empires?

Nope, I responded to the first and second part of the question I quoted, FD.

As I've pointed out, FD Muhammed was no different to most other warlords in the Medieval or Ancient periods, or even up to the start of the 20th for that matter.   History unfortunately is littered with atrocities.  You, OTOH appear to believe he was unique in this regard, perhaps because of your bigoted viewpoint towards Muslims.   Rather irrational, really but not surprising for someone as obviously ignorant as yourself.  Fancy thinking Austen wrote in the Elizabethan period!   Roll Eyes

...  Keep trying, FD.  All you're doing is showing us your bigotry again.  Go ahead, prove to me that Mohammed was unique in his attitudes and his actions as a warlord.   Roll Eyes

It will be amusing.   Grin

Capitalism was a sort of gentleman's agreement between the rich, to impose a sort of rule system that everyone could agree with, on top of the plundering and exploitation that was going on, so they didn't have to hide in castles, get their hands dirty, risk death or take responsibility. It was also an efficient way to recycle stuff and put a stop to the waste of life and property following the usual sort of conquest, so that it could be put back into productive use.

He is unique in that people turned him into a religious leader, despite all the raping and pillaging. It's like worshiping Hitler.

Just like to remind everyone at this point that there is not a single piece of documented evidence of Muhammad raping or condoning the rape of anyone.
