I remember the absolute farce of BoM declaring that SA was still in a drought after the wettest winter in decades and with spectacular timing made this pronouncement during 48 hours of continual very heavy rain in Adelaide.

It made them look very silly.

Yes, I remember that, however the BOM has never had an issue with looking silly.
I also remember the expected prediction that's made each year by the BOM haruspex wailing into his bucket of cows intestines, that the north of the country will see more cyclones and of increasing severity.
And we wait, wait, and wait some more.
I suppose statistically speaking that if it's said for long enough, one day it might actually happen.

during the worst of the drought Mildura had green parks and green verges and green lawns because everyone used murray water in blatant violation of the restrictions - including the council.

Perhaps you’ll be kind enough to supply some proof on this?

Mildura was as dry as a nun’s ****. Dead laws, dead nature strips, the park down the road was dead

And just how TF did people get “Murray Water”? Run pumps and hoses from the dam river?

Even road crews, the trotting track, had to fill up their water trucks at a water station that was pumping ground water.

But hey, I only live here, what would I know….. Smiley

obviously not in the town itself.  it was a running joke around a lot of SA and vic how you drove in to see the stage 3 restrictions signs while the council was watering the median strips during the middle of a summer day.

We all know those people who hose wash their cars during water restrictions. The ones who justify their gross stupidity by arguing that their actions alone don't make any significant difference.

Well next time you see someone like that and have an overwhelming urge to punch them in the face, feel free, chances are it's probably Maqqa.

so VIOLENCE IS THE ANSWER?

do you still shower in a bucket MOTR??... or have you ev er done so anyway?..

Now, how about you address the argument, cods. What do you think of people who ignore water restrictions because they think their contribution to the problem is insignificant?

I will be perfectly honest with you my dear...

I havent seen anyone ABUSE THE RULES OF WATER RESTRICTIONS....

and I do not take someone elses word that they are doing so..

what I THINK btw doesnt change a bloody thing...

I am sorry I am not one of these people that sits their bum on a wooden bench every Sunday and thinks that by doing so I am saving someones soul..

I do not believe MONEY will change the climate that has been changing for millions of years either..

we are not allowed to save the rain because we would have to dig a hole in the ground.. Roll Eyes

so let it all go to waste or most of it..and then point the finger at some darstardly person that dares to wash his car with a hose. once in the blue moon.....

I think more about the dumb arse people that stop the building of dams...for the future..

if they think stopping someone using a hose.. will make the water we have saved stretch further... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

then that thinking is bizarre.

and ACT was as green as could be.. the automatic sprinklers were changed to work in the early hours...often one would see water pouring down the gutters...

Just so you know where the water is used!!!

Quote:
Freshwater withdrawal (domestic/industrial/agricultural): total: 24.06 cu km/yr (15%/10%/75%)

http://www.indexmundi.com/australia/freshwater_withdrawal_(domestic_industrial_a...

I also remember reading somewhere that we lose about 30% of our water assets through evaporation and poor water management!!!

Most of our street in Armadale watered all the way through the restrictions.

Let's be honest a few nights per week on our gardens were hardly going to empty the fricken dams were they.

I watered mine and Carl and Steve (either side) said nothing and they did theirs and I said nothing.

Neighbours in Armadale.

Costello-country - as we like to call Higgins.

India and China are doing more than us.

The problem is that there are free riders like you in every country. Not a problem when it's just you and your mates in Costello County, but a catastrophic problem when a whole chunk of you think the same way.

Adelaide dams are at full capacity. Farmers dams on the fleurieu peninsula are all full. Flinders Ranges have had good rain a few times during spring which has been unheard of for the last 10 years. 2 weeks ago the gates have been opened up stream of the Murray, the mouth now has a higher concentration of fresh water.

I'd say SA is looking great! The climate has changed once again  Grin
