Then we have the quoted bit about Genisis from the Bible. Mr Monckton says that Chapt 1 Vs 22 mentions something about us being the Stewards of the Planet and goes on about our responsibility to look after it from the Christian Bible. Let me post for you Chapt 1 Vs 22 firstly,
"22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth."
Now, I am no theological expert at all, but, I have not managed to find a direct reference to man being a steward of the earth and all its creatures etc. I am sure someone well versed may find it. The important point though, is that already in the opening minutes Mr Monckton has chosen to quote from the bible, in support of his speech, and (to my mind at least) I have demonstrated that, what he quoted was wrong and may not even exist in Christian text and, therefore, a bit of (if not a blatant one) disregard for facts.
As far as I can remember we are suppose to be the stewards of the Earth in accordance with Gods commandment.
I don't think God would be happy that we are destroying the planet because of our greed, a planet that he put under our control.
I found this, but not all bibles are exactly the same.

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Apart from his clowning around with jokes, I think he's sincere and believes what he preaches.
Unlike our mate Al Gore who tells us lower Manhattan will be under water in 100 years and then he goes out and buys a $4 million dollar condo at the waters edge.
Or that its the end of the world and the only salvation we have is carbon pricing on wall street, he then creates the Chicago Climate Exchange to trade carbon credits.
Dear Al will be our first carbon billionaire.

Everyone has an opinion you are entitled to yours.
Quote:Yep, I know right, I have horribly pre judged the bloke without watching the whole thing, what a terrible person I am.
Not at all, I just said that its worth a view because I believe what he's saying.
If you don't believe him it doesn't make you a bad person.
I mean I don't believe one word Al Gore has spoken about AGW, it doesn't make me a bad person..where's chimpy...???
Quote:Of course, Mr Monckton is not unfamiliar with public speaking so, in my defence (I know I am defending the indefensible really...) I have seen and heard him speak before. I have also seen/read reviews of some of his "questionable" statements, comments, positions etc. Bottom line, I think he is about as reliable as you think IPCC is. That is my opinion though.
Fair enough, I can't argue with that, we all have to make up our own minds.
Quote:Of course, I realise too that I have only picked up some stuff from his opening comments and we haven't even reached the AGW information yet - however, given what I have picked up, I hope that you can understand my scepticism here....
Cool with me dude..................
