What does it have to do England with Europe from any point of view?
As an isolated island without too much touch with the outside world, England culturally never was part of European continent.
Suppressed and occupied by Romans people in British islands, lived for centuries isolated from the outside world, without having a chance to develop civilized spiritual and cultural life like Continental part of Europe.
