Fair enough. You're the electrician.

Actually - my studies & experience relate to electronics.

Just controlling that amount of power is very difficult - 10 megawatts.

It must be turned from DC to AC 50Hz 3 phase which is in phase with the power grid.
Then the whole process must work in reverse to charge the batteries.

Even 5% inefficiencies would cause extreme heat & failure of the semiconductors.
I don't know how they do it.
Maybe they have special superconductor ceramics?

Actually that must be the most lucid and rational thing you have ever written, you shoud be like that more often in your writings.

Actually I like the cottage industry approach. If power companies lease battery storage from consumers with solar panel installations, it's a good outcome for everybody and it puts the storage at the right location.

There was an earlier post relating to that.

Apart from the cottage industry approach approach good post  Grin

*Sure....they're anti competitive as any subsidised job is.  It wouldn't be there without the tax payer.  Very damned difficult for a brainwashed collectivist to understand that I know....  (swaggy) *

But the feedin tariff on solar systems used to be 3 times
what we pay for electricity -
now it's about 1/3 of what we pay.

Electricity companies don't like sending consumers a cheque.

All heil regulated markets!
