Show me one majority Islamic Government that openly protects religious freedom of choice and its practitioners!
Anyone?
IndonesiaIranIran's is, by definition qualified but the Jews seem happy enough with their guaranteed freedom of religion whilst the Ba'hai seem to get the short end of the stick.
Brain, you are worse than naive. You are wilfully stoopid. You
want to be stoopid.
You try to start a church in Iran. Or a synagogue.
Well, as I pointed out, the Jews appear to have no problems with living in Iran and refuse to move to Israel, therefore they must be able to start a synagogue, Soren. As to Christianity, it seems to operate easily enough in Iran.
Quote:You look at how Indonesia treated the Christian East Timorese.
Well, it depends on what period you're talking about, Soren. Indonesian military and political treatment of Christians in East Timor varied quite considerably over the period of Indonesian Occupation. Overall, Christians were not persecuted for their religion. East Timorese were oppressed because of their rebellious nature.
Quote:If Iran and Indonesia are your best examples of Islamic tolerance then you are on very, very thin ice.
They are good examples of what Lionel asked for, Soren. They refute the point he was trying to make. There are Islamic nations which have guarantees of religious freedom within their constitutions. How well they enforce them various from place to place and time to time, just as in any nation.
