Pine Gap is still spying under the Abbott Regime.

Abbott supports spying on our neighbours and Abbott supports spying on Australians.

Abbott, stop spying.

Nobody's mentioned spying on Australians that I have seen. Go hug a tree, or better yet, chain yourself to it! You guys seem to be good at that, so stick to what you're good at and leave this adult stuff to the adults.

Just because you have your head up your rear end doesn't count for anything.

Abbott supports Pine Gap and Pine Gap spies on everything and everyone.

Abbott must stop supporting spying on Australians and demand the closure of Pine Gap and kick out the yanks off Australian soil.

Yes, much better that our country collectively sticks its head in the sand, right? Gawd, you're a fool. Every PM - Labor and Liberal for decades has supported Pine Gap. Who knows how many terrorist acts have been prevented here by using intel obtained through Pine Gap? I think we'll find that the facility does more good than bad for us all.

Fact is we have no idea whether Pine Gap has achieved anything. And for "security reasons" we never shall.

I don't care what you call them.
They may have done some good work but it doesn't explain
snooping medical information.

Online medical information is only available to hospitals in life threatening situations using encryption.
The medical records encryption decoding  information & access must have
been given away by the medical authorities for the security services to read.

Who is responsible for doing so & not telling us?

We need questions in parliament.

I doubt that we'll get those questions as Labor is in this up to their necks.

Maybe the Greens will act?

The Abbott government unsuccessfully tries to hide behind a veil of secrecy.

Assume the worst on spy leaks: Johnston

THE Abbott government has confirmed it is bracing for more embarrassing intelligence leaks but says it will not take a backwards step on spying.

Defence Minister David Johnston has told industry and defence experts that the government is assuming the worst when it comes to further possible leaks from fugitive US intelligence whistleblower Edward Snowden.

The event in Canberra on Monday was closed to the media but audio was obtained by The West Australian newspaper and made available on its website.

"Suffice to say that this is not an area that I can get into in great detail, but I simply say assume the worst," Senator Johnston told the gathering.
"We are watching with great acuity what is happening in the space. But we must assume the worst. There is no alternative for us."

"We must assume the worst but we've got to toughen up and get on with the job."

Oh come on Pansi!   You KNOW spying only started under the previous Labor Government!  The previous Liberal and Labor Governments had nothing to do with it!  Pine Gap and JORN were just subsidised holiday camps for Defence Workers.

Of course spying was conducted under Howard, but I find the howls of protest from the left impossible to swallow given the one simple fact that Labor had six years to change how spying is conducted and clearly have either done nothing or gone further than the previous Coalition government that Rudd replaced. My bet is on Rudd expanding our spying, given his ego and controlling nature.

Nothing here about security services having access to our medical records at EHealth:

http://www.ehealth.gov.au/internet/ehealth/publishing.nsf/Content/ehealth_privac...

It does say -

Quote:
Will information in eHealth records be taken or held outside Australia?

A registered repository operator, a registered portal operator or a registered Contracted Service Provider that holds or has access to eHealth records must not hold or take the records outside Australia or process or handle the information relating to the records outside Australia.

It looks like the EHealth website is full of lies.

It also says -

Quote:
What are the penalties for collecting, using or disclosing information in an eHealth record when it is not authorised?

It is an offence under the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Records Act 2012 for a person to collect health information from an individual's eHealth record, or use or disclose that information, if the collection, use or disclosure is not authorised by the legislation and the person knows that the collection is not authorised or is reckless as to whether the collection is authorised or not.

The penalty under the legislation for unauthorised collection, use and disclosure is currently up to $13,200 for an individual or up to $66,000 for a body corporate. .

It looks like the spy agencies will owe a lot of money.  Smiley

Who allowed the spy agencies access?

The data is encrypted.

My guess is that Australia would have one of the best spying networks in the world - thanks to the almost complete use of high tech andhigh secure American equipment.   However, all the best security in the world cannot a whistleblower stop.  I don't see howls of protest from the left at all - it appears many of the Roids on here thing spying under Rudd started in 2007 after his election!  And blame Rudd for the discovery of it!  Hilarious!

What I do find amusing is the total lack of ability of the current PM to handle it in a diplomatic and sensible style.    Now, he could blame Rudd, say sorry, say it wont happen again and move on.  Three wins there.  But, in an inept fashion he has completely blown it

He has actually handled it well. He refused to apologise, and rightly so. He offered high level consultations that may lead to intelligence sharing and Indonesia is happy with that so far. All in all, he's done well, despite all the nonsense and hypocrisy from the ALP.

Really?  We are the laughing stock of a tinpot country that has a cartoon on it's front page suggesting Tony is masterbating whilst looking at Indonesians through a door.

The same tinpot country that now refuses to have much to do with us unless we propose something that THEY will need to approve regardless of what we may think

Add to that Bishop insulting China and we have one doosey of a government

Proof that the US Govt. has your medical records.

Canadian denied entry to the US after agent cites private medical records.

A wheelchair-bound Canadian woman was denied entry to the United States this week because she was previously diagnosed with clinical depression. Now she wants to know why the US Department of Homeland Security had her medical history on file.

The Toronto Star’s Valerie Haunch reported on Thursday that 50-year-old author Ellen Richardson was turned away from the city’s Pearson Airport three days earlier after DHS officials said she lacked the necessary medical clearance to cross into the US.

“I was turned away, I was told, because I had a hospitalization in the summer of 2012 for clinical depression,’’ Richardson told the Star.

Latest news:

Tony is raiding legal offices & using thuggery against a lawyer.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-12-03/asio-raided-lawyer-representing-east-timor...

Quote:
Claims ASIO raided office of lawyer representing East Timor in spying case.
A lawyer representing East Timor in its spying case against Australia says his office has been raided by the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO).

Bernard Collaery says two agents seized electronic and paper files this afternoon from his law practice in Canberra.

He says the agents identified themselves as working for ASIO, and would not show his employees the search warrant because it related to national security.

East Timor has accused the Australia Secret Intelligence Service (ASIS) of covertly recording Timorese ministers and officials during oil-and-gas negotiations in Dili in 2004.
