Rupert Murdoch buying the ABC
Dec 4th, 2013 at 7:21pm

If Rupert Murdoch bought the ABC, obviously there are those on the left who would be outraged.

But think of it this way. If he bought it, wouldn't it be better business-wise from his perspective to have it as a leftist media outlet? Why make it right wing when it would eat into his own market share?

The guy clearly isn't stupid and I don't see him turning the ABC right wing. So I don't understand the cry's of the left against selling the ABC, given that we are paying for something many feel is pushing leftist propaganda.

"given that we are paying for something many
incorrectly
feel is pushing leftist propaganda"

A. ABC is not for sale
B. if it was for sale, then it should go to the highest bidder that is in Australia's interest.

Or with righties welcome a Chinese government owned business buying it?

What a marvellous idea, but why sell it?

We gave Mr Murdoch Sydney’s showgrounds. Why not give him the ABC?

I would welcome selling the Green party to the Chinese, after about a week of owning you they'd end up plunging a chopstick through your forehead.  Grin

Yes dear, feel free to share the leftist propaganda with us  though I would not hold my breath. I've been asking the conga line for specific examples for years and so far not one of them has been able to provide any.

you are forgetting one very important point ... he doesn't need to worry about it eating into his share. He already has 70% of Australias media, and to give him the ABC would just about tie it all up for him. You will have forevermore as your PM whoever Murdoch likes.

That’s right. Half an hour later, they’d be hungry again.

We’d have to sell them Clive.

The politicians need the ABC -
it's the only program that gives them any credibility -

they get asked the tough questions by hard nosed interviewers.

That's why it will never be sold.

A week? you're being too generous. I give them about 12 hours before the Chinese have had enough of them.

Did you forget Murdoch backed Rudd in 07? He's regretted it ever since, as have a large portion of ordinary Australians.

Yes, "ordinary" being the operative word.

Yes, ordinary also means normal, common, garden-variety. As opposed to those like you, who are abnormal, weird and just plain bat-sh!t crazy.
