There is no collective right to respect, only individual rights. And if you tell me you are a follower of a daft or dangerous (or both) belief system, you reveal a great deal about yourself that may be highly repellent if not repulsive to others.

A belief system is not an illness or an affliction beyond one's control. It is a matter of choice, that is, a matter of character - and not all personal choices, not all personalities and characters deserve equal respect.
