Their families believe the $2.8 billion program - implemented by then-prime minister Kevin Rudd to inject money into the economy during the global financial crisis - was rushed and lacked adequate safety standards.
I think if that was my son I too would want REAL answers..not just findings..I dont know what will give these families peace but a Royal is about as high as it can go...so I am glad for them an d I trust it will bring them answers to
their questions....not ours.
Rubbish, cods. There already have been a zillion Inquiries including several Inquests. But......no worries, Abbott will go ahead with this, and we all know now what the outcome will be.
In all of political history, no Government has initiated a Royal Commission without first ensuring the outcome. They decide the 'Terms of Reference,' they decide who leads it, and they decide who 'Counsel Assisting' will be.
The outcome will be..............no-one will be charged with any offence, just like the Cole Commission into the Building and Construction Industry which cost $70M (+-) and not one individual charged* (or relevant legislation) coming out of it. (*It was mooted some Union bloke who ignored a subpoena was to be charged, but I can't find any confirmation of that.)
Lawyers made zillions, Cole who made plus zillions truly retired, and then abrogated himself from his absurd conclusions with the pathetic 'who me?' excuse, "I am retired now."
....and the dumb thing is, not even political advantage was taken by Hayseed's mob.......probably because Alan Jones made many programmes condemning the Findings, describing the several Volumes as having best use as 'door stoppers.'
You need to understand that Royal Commissions are nothing more than money handed to lawyers to produce exactly what the payer wants.
