Meet your favourite actor

Here's a couple to kick it off, with roles I liked them in particularly.

Emma Thompson -

Sense & Sensibility
Carrington
Howard's End
Nanny MacPhee

Charles Dance - this one a bit obscure but I think he's a great actor

Bleak House (Mr Tulkinghorne)
Nicholas Nickleby

Actually when I gave consideration to the issue I found that there were too many excellent actors to name. But there's damn few movies in the modern era to find laudable, other than those written nigh on a century ago or more. I want storylines, not reliance on ultraviolence, explosions and one liners.

Agree, but it would be interesting to see who people nominate as their fav actors.
The actors I like are associated with the movies they make. What I mean is, I could nominate a list of UK actors because I like the films produced by UK people.
When I see the same actors in US movies I don't like them because US movies just don't make it for me.

I like Tom Cruise. He's been around forever and a day, and he doesn't give a bugger what you think.  You can sneer at some cringeworthy moments and call him a kook or an arsehole, but at the end of the day he's still doing what he wants for $30 million a pop.

I haven't seen much of him but I do remember he did a good job in Rain Man.
The trouble for American actors is they get such crap scripts to work with, even the best ones like Meryl Streep . . .but that's just my opinion.

Yeah but that's pretty much a given.  If they're famous enough to be in a movie, they're famous enough to have a-grade ass on tap.

There's a few exceptions though such as Pierce Brosnan, Robert de niro and hugh jackman, though I guess their wives are only the ass we know about.

Aw, that's a bit rough on poor old Deb.

She's almost 60, and looks quite good for her age.

I was in Toodyay when they filmed Shame, and she was a sweetheart.

Mind you, everyone was chasing after Simone Buchanan   Smiley
