if he is found guilty will you call him a thief.?

or say $20 a week isnt stealing.

I really cannot see Craig being convicted on the crap evidence the prosecution are presenting. The arrest warrant used by VicPol to arrest Craig was completely flawed, jailing Craig for one night, making him undergo a strip search was way over the top.

The prosecution wanted to lengthen the hearing, even have it before a jury. They trying to bankrupt Craig or something? The magistrate is fed up to the backteeth with the crap the prosecution is pulling—it is more political trial than criminal trial. All is based on the FWA investigation which was a witch hunt on Craig and the report that resulted was so bad FWA would only release it under Parliamentary Privilege. And you reckon there is anything to it???

Former MP Craig Thomson's union account used for $6,000 in escort transactions, court told

A forensic accountant has testified that former Health Services Union (HSU) official Craig Thomson spent almost $6,000 at Sydney brothels using a union credit card.

Thomson, also a former Labor MP, has pleaded not guilty to 145 charges of obtaining financial advantage and property by deception while he was the HSU's national secretary.

The case centres on allegations Thomson used union funds to pay for pornography and prostitutes.

Gerard Curtin, an accountant for Victoria Police, testified he had analysed the union's MYOB files as part of the investigation into Thomson.

The court heard the way Thomson's spending was classified in the union system was whimsical and ad hoc.

Mr Curtin said there was a period of about a year where all of Thomson's credit card transactions were classified as travel expenses.

He said the HSU's accounting system recorded the Sydney brothel spending as "entertainment", "teleconferencing", or national office meeting expenses.

The documents also reveal money was spent at expensive restaurants including Rockpool, Mecca, Langton's, Ecco, Sarti and Il Solito Posto.

The court documents show the union also paid for Thomson to dine at The Lazy Lobster and La Dolce Vita.

Mr Curtin also told the Melbourne Magistrates Court the credit card records showed cash withdrawals of more than $3,000 between 2005 and 2007[/url]

Thompson is a thief & he should have to pay back all the money + a fine + jail time.

Anyone else who stole union money should be charged as well.

its weird isnt it.. he isnt even going to deny anything anymore.. just prove the union never said he couldnt use the credit card for his own benefits...

if he pulls that one.. I bet there will be a mad scramble to get all those who have company credit card to immediately sign legal documents saying to be used only for company business and that doesnt include brothels or porn films..hahahaha

as far as I can make out he hasnt any money anyway,,,well thats what he has been saying cant pay his lawyers........poor me...so how they will get any money out of him is a mystery??..

kind of reminiscent of  why didnt gillard sue pickering.. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

can you see him goin g to jail if he is found guilty???...

I cant....at least he isnt an MP anymore and never will be again I hope...so thats something to be thankful for...

Hang em and hang em high.
He's as guilty as hell.
Everyone knows that you can't spend union money on blo jobs.

so you dont think he should be charged is that what you are saying???... he did nothing wrong like he claims....

its ok for you to have that opinion.

even though you appear to object to anyone else seeing it different..

.FWA btw went on for years...

he tried to sue the SMH...for printing up he had used the HSU credit card for brothels...

for some reason he changed his mind and called his case off..

so the ALP came to his rescue and paid his lawyer bills so he would not be made bankrupt....because he would lose his seat...in a hung parliament..

now that is all fact...

where there is smoke there is fire is an old saying..

and others will ask questions..as is their right..

the HSU is  suing THOMO as far as I know...

your comments sound straight from the Independent..who are probably backing Craig with funds....I dont know...just guessing.
but he was asking for donations not long ago to pay his lawyer..

you are right except for one thing  labrats have been doing it as well..even your mate Craig..

Disgraced former MP Craig Thomson quizzed over new travel expenses
PATRICK LION THE DAILY TELEGRAPH DECEMBER 16, 2013 12:00AM

THE federal government yesterday questioned almost $14,000 in expense claims made by Craig Thomson around the time of a Bali family holiday and for travel to Melbourne on the same day he attended court in the city.

But the former NSW Labor MP defended his use of the parliamentary perks, insisting everything was work-related and within guidelines.

New expense records reveal Thomson claimed three return flights for himself and two family members between Sydney and Perth earlier this year at a total cost of $8820.

The flights came either side of a two-week family holiday in Bali in April that Thomson said was necessary to relax after being charged with a string of fraud offences including claims he used union funds to pay for prostitutes. He denies wrongdoing.

Thomson yesterday said while he benefited from cheaper airfares to Bali - the Perth-Bali route is almost half the Sydney-Bali journey - he had not claimed a travelling allowance for Perth accommodation so his overall bill was more.

He said he claimed the flights to Perth on March 30 as he was entitled to so he could hold meetings with lobbyists, media and other stakeholders about legislation.

"Remember, I am a crossbencher at this point so I am more in demand than Ned Kelly,'' he said.

But he would not detail the specific appointments because he said they were confidential. After the Perth stop, Thomson confirmed holidaying in Bali for a fortnight before returning to Perth.

On April 16, expense records show Thomson flew himself and his family from Perth back to Sydney on the taxpayer.

Records show Thomson also claimed $3501 for "mobile PDA overseas calls'' a few days after returning from the trip. He said all MPs claimed overseas holiday calls.

The expense records also detail how the then Dobell MP claimed $1199.56 for return flights between Sydney and Melbourne on May 22 this year, the same day he appeared in a Melbourne court on the fraud charges. He also claimed two cab charge expenses of $53.89 and $51.06.

Thomson yesterday said he had work-related meetings in Melbourne as well as attending court but again would not detail the appointments.

Asked about the claims, Employment Minister Eric Abetz said: "On the face of it, it appears as though Mr Thomson has even more explaining to do.''

The new parliamentary expense claims were discovered over the weekend by blogger and former Sydney radio host Michael Smith.

Mr Thomson also charged about $1500 for "emergency service - site establishment

For someone who travelled as much as Craig did $20/week for minor purchases sounds reasonable to me.

Thomson's credit cards ' business only'

The union-issued credit cards allegedly misused by former MP Craig Thomson should not have been used for personal expenses, his hearing has been told.

Thomson, 49, is facing 145 dishonesty charges over the alleged misuse of $28,449 on Health Services Union (HSU) credit cards to pay for escorts, movies and personal travel while he was the organisation's national secretary and a Labor MP.

HSU Victoria No. 4 Branch Secretary Rosemary Kelly told the Melbourne Magistrates Court the cards should have only covered expenses that furthered the union's interest.

Ms Kelly said if a union leader was on a business trip, then incidental expenses could be covered by the cards, but should have been repaid.

'You wouldn't take the credit cards with you wherever you went and pay for personal expenses if you were in another city on business,' she said.

The hearing continues before Magistrate Charlie Rozencwajg.
