Not much different here.  I bring loads of tank water in from the farm for cooking, coffee and stuff.  Town water goes for washing up, toilet etc.

I work in the industry and my main area of growth reporting for ANZ region is through shale gas.
The strides made in safet, leakage reduction and safe streamlined delivery are all hugely ahead of industry safety standards.

It will deliver increased energy supply within Australia.

But, Andrei - well over 90% of it is going to overseas buyers - not to the Australian market, and prices of gas are already predicted to rise as a result of shale gas procurement.

Not sure how that works, but that's what I read.

Point being, regardless - your gas is not going to the Australian market first and thus lowering our cost of living - it is going to export and the pockets of the producers ONLY.

The shale gas project at Narrabri will feed - apart from the export terminal at Newcastle - the village of Wellington - 4000 people.  Maybe good for Wellington - but what about much larger Newcastle?

I think the water under discussion is the ordinary town water (yuk) - not sure about the shale gas thing up there.

Complete nonsense Andrei .. the energy/gas is for export ... it is being exploited by foreign interests & profits.

It figures you're in the industry. Roll Eyes

The very same companies that are exploiting hydraulic fracked gas in the US are here in Australia as well as Poms.

So the technology is the same .... & it's causing massive environmental problems in the USA.

Which of course the industry denies .... but it's a fact .... the world environments where this practise is running amok will pay for a long time because of hydraulic coal/shale seam fraccking.

The process of extraction is about as "unnatural" as can be imagined .... so it's a complete lie to call it "NATURAL" gas.

Yes it's town water Grappler .... but the locals(townies) don't drink it anyway ...... the gas is coal seam gas extracted by a process called "gasification".

To those who aren't killed by methane in the air and their water supply?
