Greens 9.1%, up from 8.7%.

The greens always go up in the polls after an election, it's during the election their voter support plummets.

Remember when you told everyone that labor was on the nose in QLD and the greens were going to be sitting in QLD parliment for the first time, remember that?

"Conservative Vote Crashes In Latest Poll"

Not so much of a crash, but more of a continuation of the existing trend of a weakening of support for the federal Coalition.

The polls taken now mean less than yesterday's newspaper.

Why anyone would bother with polls results this early is absolutely ridiculous.

Morgan was the latest pollster to record a drop to 53:47. Difficult times for the Coalition. To make it more difficult—cabinet may split:

Quote:
SIMMERING tensions within the federal government over taxpayer-funded industry assistance are set to be tested this week as cabinet prepares to discuss a bailout for the struggling Victorian fruit cannery SPC Ardmona.

The cabinet meeting, scheduled for Thursday, comes as senior members of the government express concern at the tactics of economic rationalists opposed to industry assistance and allied to Treasurer Joe Hockey.

The Australian Financial Review understands Industry Minister Ian Macfarlane is sticking with his view that SPCA should receive a one-off assistance package because of the impact of its closure in the Goulburn Valley.

SPCA is seeking $25 million from the federal government and $25 million from the Victorian state government. The Abbott government shelved a decision on the matter over the Christmas break and is as divided over the issue now as it was a month ago.

If the decision is not to give assistance to SPC Ardmona—JoHo is about to challenge Abbott for the Leadership—and they still have not been in office for 5 months!

Tony got what he wanted - the prime minister ship.

Actually running the country is a different matter.

The next few years will be very interesting.

Perhaps you are SOB after all if you can't see the point i was making. Embarrassed

Perhaps you will link to where i "frothed at the mouth" at "every poll 3 years prior to the election"?

Or was that just some rubbish thrown in to cover up your dumb claim? Undecided

The polls do matter—post election they measure the amount of political capital a government has. The simian has overdrawn his political capital already!

Normally a government builds political capital, blaming the previous government, making soothing noises then hits with a hard Budget and hopes to rebuild political capital by making the next two Budgets appealing with some sweeties in the last Budget.

With already minus political capital and a hard Budget coming that is going to usher in a deep recession—there is no way the simian can rebuild political capital before the next election, union bash as much as he likes. Trying to kill the Carbon Price, rescind the RET, the mining tax—going to destroy more political capital.
